8/2 - Colorado Rockies at Florida Marlins

When: 7:05 ET

Where: Dolphins Stadium

Florida will look for its first series win in three tries as it hosts Colorado in Thursday's rubber match.

Despite losing seven of their last nine games, the Marlins gave themselves a chance to take two of three from the Rockies after winning Wednesday's contest, 4-3. It was the Marlins' first win in five tries against Colorado at Dolphin Stadium.

Florida has won two of its last three home series.

Rick VandenHurk will make his first career appearance against the Rockies as he takes the mound for Florida. The 22-year-old rookie lost for the first time in four starts his last time out after going five innings and allowing six runs, including Barry Bonds'

754th home run. Florida is 5-2 in VandenHurk's last seven starts.

Jason Hirsh, who has been on the disabled list for a month with a sprained ankle, will make his first start for Colorado since July 2. The 6-foot-8 right-hander is 2-6 in hist last eight decisions, but did throw six scoreless innings against the Mets to earn a victory his last time out. Hirsh, in his second season with Colorado, has never faced anyone on the Marlins.

Pitching Matchup

COL: RHP Jason Hirsh (4-7, 4.90 ERA)

Hirsh will be coming back from the disabled list, where he has been since suffering a sprained right ankle on July 2 during a home victory over the Mets. Hirsh used his fastball to the liking of manager Clint Hurdle, who has chided Hirsh for not using it enough. In his last of three rehab starts, Hirsh depended on his fastball and pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings.

FLA: RHP Rick VandenHurk (3-2, 7.00 ERA)

The 22-year-old native of The Netherlands made himself part of Barry Bonds lore in his previous start. VandenHurk surrendered career homer No. 754 to Bonds at San Francisco. Still, he was in line to get a win, although he gave up four runs -- all with two outs -- in the fifth inning. He ended up not factoring into the decision, giving up six runs on eight hits with five walks and a strikeout. Three times VandenHurk was taken deep in the game. This will be the rookie's 10th big league start, and 11th appearance.

Let's get this series win, how bout it?

We are due for one of those games we hit 3-4 HR's. Hopefully the Holland Hammer can shut down the Rockies. I say the Fish will win 7-3. Can someone post the lineups as soon as they are available?

Hi, my name is Dan Uggla. :bases_homerun: :notworthy

So does anyone have any idea on this RVH spelling? DVH said it was Rick Vandenhurk but MLB.com says it's Rick VandenHurk.
