Crappy game, Matt Treanor for catcher, etc.

Here's my anecdote from going to the game and sitting in the right field bleachers:

When Upton made the crappy play and dropped De Aza's line drive, he screamed "f***" about 5 times at the top of his lungs.

My friends and I were heckling him up to that point, and then after that, we pretty much stopped. He's a big guy, and he had a look of death in his eyes. I was legitimately worried he was going to lose it and climb the wall and try to attack us. What a nut.

Though I'm lying when I said we quit heckling him. We heckled him even more afterwards... But that dude seems legitimately crazy.

We're you one of the guys screaming at the top of your lungs all game? I was sitting in 129.

I wasn't one of the guys who got kicked out or anything. I was down front in 128 with a couple of my buddies. I'm not sure if we were screaming at the top of our lungs, but we were being pretty boisterous, at least when Upton was out in the field. Just shouting stuff like "B.J. is a far superior player, I bet your parents love him more" just shouting "JUSTIN" every once in a while...

I think you are being a little hard on the guy. Most players utter obcenities when something like that happens. The guy is on a winning team, he's a rookie trying to make an impression with his bat and glove, he just screwed up big time, and he did cover mis mouth in an attempt to keep it "private."

Last home stand Cody was attempting to run down a ball hit to the gap and couldn't get to it. Some guy near us got in his case for it (uncalled for) and as Cody was walking away he looked right up towards the guy and mouthed, "F--- You."

I'm not saying he shouldn't have done it, he was obviously frustrated (as would anybody who made as bad a play as he did, though this is just more proof that much of Hermida's struggles in right can be attributed to not seeing the ball well in RF in the early innings of home games), I'm just saying it was a bit too intense.

Cody Ross is good.

Miguel Olivo isnt good.

Hanley got picked off.

Justin Miller didnt pitch as bad as his line would suggest (the blooper to LF killed him as did Olivo dropping a great throw by Hanley)

Won't win many games giving up 9 runs.

Hanley was just kidding with us last night so we'd think he was mortal, but he's not fooling me, I know for a fact he is immortal.

So with a runner on 2nd and no outs, Fredi decides not to have Uggla bunt and he strikes out. Then with runners on 1st and 2nd, with no outs, Fredi again decides not to have Uggla bunt and he strikes out. WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO USE COMMON BASEBALL SENSE, FREDI?!?!?!

*sigh* I miss Joe...

The highlight of the game was when Olivo completely whiffed on catching the 96MPH fastball and it hit the ump directly in the knee. Olivo's gonna' have an X on his back in the eyes of all the umps for awhile.

Dude, you got your pure power hitter up, you gotta take your chances because you know hes gonna get a HR or double if he connects.

Actually, you never give up outs in the 4th or 5th inning. We lost by 3 anyways, so it actually makes more sense to have him swinging, since he's a really good hitter who has a pretty good shot at driving those runners in he makes contact.

I know what you guys are saying and honestly it could go either way. Yea, Uggla is one of your power hitters, but he's struggled at the plate all year, to the point that you're either gonna get a HR or a strikeout. Its just been frustrating to watch guys other than Hanley and Miguel at the plate this year and wish that we could produce runs by playing more smallball and not relying on the HR as much.

Except that small ball is a waste of outs, which are the most precious commodity in baseball.

Tell that to Jack Mckeon and the 2003 team. I don't care how we score runs, but it seems like we only score when we got on a HR tirade. Why not try something different?

You mean the one that was 8th in the nl in runs scored? We should follow their model in stead of the one that is 4th in the NL in runs scored?

We scored 6 runs last night and people are complaining we didn't score more. Most nights, you will win a game with 6 runs. The last thing we need is to start giving up outs. It is absolutely not broken, do not fix it.

In 2003, we were 16th in MLB in runs scored.

If something different means small ball, then something different = something worse.
