I heard on my radio station (Majic 102.5 FM) this morning that Whoppie Goldberg got on the View yesterday and basically absolved Michael Vick of his dog fighting shennagins because, (according to her- I'm paraphrasing), "He's from the South and in the South, there's a different culture. It's something he grew up with."

 

So, what's your thoughts?

Recently some news was made on comments that because Michael Vick was from south of the Mason-Dixon line, he "grew up" with dogfighting.

I am here to tell you that Southerners do not condone such behavior and that dogfighting occurs anywhere and everywhere, not only in the south..

Thoughts? I could care less what comes out of Whoopi Goldberg's mouth. Great for ratings on The View though if she keeps up this good work and people talk about her like this.

It does have some substance though.

 

For instance those twin 12 year old nazi singers. They grew up being told "This is the right way" so now they think that Nazism is how the world should run.

 

If Vick grew up in a certain neck of the woods where he's going to dog fights at a very young age and being told that it's OK, he's going to think it's OK.

 

Does it make it O-K? No. I'm not saying that. f*** dog fighting, f*** him, and I hope he gets the hammer. Expecially considering Vick's age, eventually something needs to click up stairs that "Hey, this is wrong." I'm just saying it has some substance. Convict people who do wrong regardless of how they're brought up, but it's a bit different from people who are exposed to things at a young age and are told it's the right thing. Kids are impressionable and that stuff can stick as one grows older.

I don't give a crap what he grew up with, it doesn't make it right. I'm sure there are a lot of people in the South who disagree also. These people who always bring this up only allude to the dogfighting but they never mention hanging and electrocuting the dogs. Are there more excuses for that too?

 

I remember Britney Spears' excuse for driving in LA with the baby in her lap -- "I'm country, ya'll."
