Game Thoughts

Highlight of the game for me was Bill Murray's reaction once he found out his beloved Cubs had lost again.

Oh, and the Cabrera homerun was pretty sweet.

bullpen rocked.

You go into next season with guys like Kensing/Pinto/Tank/Gregg/Owens/Garcia/Linstrom, that's looking pretty solid.

The offensive numbers this season speak for themselves. Cabs sets his season high for homers, Hermida bangs out more hits, and how about the nice play in the outfield!

Next season, healthy pitchers please! :pray

OMG, totally forgot about Kensing.

Definitely the save the box-score doesn't reflect for him.

And Miller's changeup thing continues to be flat out filthy.

not in our house. If the Cubs have won the first two, they could have celebrated the division title right in our own home.

Logan looked soo good today that I really hope we sell high on Gregg this offseason. I think one of Kensing/Lindstrom/Miller/Nolasco can do as good a job as Gregg has done this year.

would be cool if Lindstrom could nail down the closer role.

Nothing like closing out the game with 100 mph heat for getting the fans riled up. :thumbup

I don't see them dealing Gregg though.

I like Lindstrom's slider. It's borderline abusive sometimes.

Any chance that Kensing will move back to the rotation at some point, or is he permanently a bull pen guy?

Im bringing my friggin broom to the game tommorow.

And Im gonna swing it like I just don't care.

This would be better if Milwaukee won and picked up another game on those jackasses.

What a great game. Some drunk Cub fan started getting kinda physical with me after the game, kinda pushing me and sh*t. Luckily security made him back off and his extremely embarrassed wife apologized.

nobody has even mention LEE GARDNER!!!

you keep talking about him

who is he?

Owens is probably going to be out for awhile, and J. Garcia will need awhile in the minors to regain composure. But probably you mean Harvey.

I figure Gregg, Lindstrom, Pinto, and Tank are locks for next year, with (in order) Miller, Gardner, Kensing, C. Mart, H. Garcia, Barone, Seddon, Carvajal, Zarate, and FA camp invites fighting for the final 3 spots. The only thing this means is, the topes are going to have one nasty bullpen.

Really looking forward to the pitching next year. I really think we'll drop 100+ runs off this years total just based off improvements from Dontrelle and Olsen, the reemergence of Anibal, Nolasco, and Kensing, additions of Gaby and Volstad (at some point), and the general progression of the bullpen as a whole. It's going to be a good year. I can already feel it in September.

Bill Murray was there? First time I don't use the wifes binoculars to check out the "crowd" and this is what I miss.

Miggy's dinger was even better because of who it was off. Marmol had me worried when he came in.

Cool Cubbie fans all around us. Even tho us Marlins fans were way outnumbered again at home, they were alot better than being surrounded by Mets fans. Knowledgeable and friendly. Fun time even if we were red faced because once again the Marlins "fan base" failed to show up because it wasn't a game for them to be seen at. We took alot of crap for that, but they took the farm animal jokes pretty well.

Got a ball thrown by De Aza about the 2nd inning. Looked around me and didn't see one single Marlins child. Gave it to the pre-schooler behind me wearing a Cubbies hat and shirt. May have been a forgettable night for his mom and dad but he has something to talk about for a while now.

Trying to get there at 2:00 for the festivities. Whatever they will be. Not sure if I will be able to close the shop down in time to do that but we will be there before first pitch at least. And sticking around The Strike Zone after the game to see what they have planned.

Lindstrom's breaking ball and more importantly his changeup have really come around this season, both of which make his fastball so much more difficult to hit in the .3 second you have to find it and hit it before it's in Matt Treanor's glove.

How's Jason Vargas doing for the Mets btw?
