October 2, 200718 yr I fear the day that Democrats start demanding mandatory college enrollment. The state of secondary school education in the country has already declined to the point where many jobs want college degrees just for the guarantee that the person can read and count. Once college becomes something that everyone has, then employers will start demanding graduate degrees. The American people are already over-educated, yet we manage to have a population that is inadequately educated in things that matter. We should instead focus on making high school relevant again. Anybody that graduates from high school should have all the education that they need to work in a decent paying job, and college should be reserved to specialties (engineering, medicine, law)
October 2, 200718 yr (If this is kinda off-topic I'm sorry) The problem with American kids is that they are a bunch of spoiled brats who don't see the need for education. Some American kids find school boring or needless because America has made it a right not a privilege. If they had to work for their education like our forefathers did, they would cherish the opportunity to learn.

I find it repulsive that I have to be associated with the entitlement generation.
October 3, 200718 yr Yeah, I hate how things have changed, what with slavery banned, black people being allowed to sit next to me, women thinking they can do more than cook and clean for their men....those past generations really had their values straight. Sorry everyone has to experience the misery of the modern world.

The point I wanted to bring across is that America is full of a bunch of lazy spoiled brats who expect to get everything handed to them on a platter, and that Americans would appreciate things (such as education) a lot more if we had to earn it.

I expect better of your posts, but it looks as though I shouldn't.

Repulsive and entitlement generation is not a retarded leap, but my post is. Yeah.
October 3, 200718 yr They were just adjectives used by the original posters. What you are doing is completely different. They weren't just adjectives. It was a post that indicted an entire generation, thereby extending beyond the scope of people who are doing the wrong acts. Every generation has its good and bad. If you say you are repulsed to be associated with a generation, what generation would you NOT be repulsed by? Accord's premise was extremely stupid.

My problem wasn't with your nuanced post, it was with the guy who is so high and mighty that he hates being associated with an entire generation.
