October 4, 200718 yr They just announced that the family of Mike Coolbaugh, the minor league coach that was killed by a line drive in July, will get a full playoff share from the Rockies. Now I want them to win the World Series.
October 4, 200718 yr There are quite a few empty seats in Philly. 1 down. EDIT: 2 down. Jimmy "MVP" Rollins goes down quickly.
October 5, 200718 yr I never understood the Rockies being drained argumnet. They had a day off between Game 163 and the beginning of the divison series, and it's baseball. Players are used to playing everyday. I said Rocks in 4, it may end up being 3.

He was talking emotionally rather than physically.... They just had to go on theb est run in team history to make the playoffs and they finally got there after a long playoff game so at that point some might expect the players to feel like theyve accomplished what they were attempting to do and have a letdown after that.
October 5, 200718 yr With every game that goes by, the Rox look like a better pick to win it all. I don't see them beating anyone from the AL.

Did anybody think the Cardinals would beat anybody from the AL? Did anybody think the Marlins would even make the World Series in '97 or '03? Anything can happen.
October 5, 200718 yr Actually in 1997 the Marlins were one of the early season favorites for the WS. Oh yeah, forgot, best team money could buy.

October 5, 200718 yr Actually in 1997 the Marlins were one of the early season favorites for the WS. Oh yeah, forgot, best team money could buy. Eh. Isnt the point of any team to spend money on players and win championships? If you are getting the best possible return with that money, job well done, no? What was the Marlins payroll in 97, $55-60 mil? But you just became a Marlins fan last month after the Red Sox and DRays.

I went to two of the 2003 playoff games, and travel down from Orlando at least once a year for a game. 2) I don't see you berating all the Yankee fans on the board. 3) It certainly didn't feel like a good return on the money when H. Wayne Huizenga then sold off virtually the entire roster and we went 54-108 the next year, now did it?.

Either way, the investment was in that 97 team and that team won, so it did seem like a good return on investment. We unloaded on that investment and took some losses after but that following season was not that same investment. The way I see it, Ill take the 97 season and the crap that followed over no 97 season and a bunch of crap.
October 5, 200718 yr Rockies named Mark Redman the starter for game 4 if there is one. He's actually done well since going to the Rox this year. Hopefully he'll repeat his two winning performances. He pitched 5 shutout innings of relief with 2 hits, 4 K/0 BB on Sept. 12, and on Sept. 29 he gave up just an unearned run on 7 hits with 6 K/1 BB in 5 IP. It's only 5 games and 19 2/3 IP, but he has a 3.20 ERA with the Rockies. If he can repeat it, and go 5 IP with little or no damage, the bullpen will carry it the rest of the way. Of course, that assumes they even need a Game 4.

Eventually a team that wins 15 of 16 and has a winning percentage of .552 on the year is due for a cold streak.
