October 2, 200718 yr Would this team give Boston and NY a run for their money? Kazmir Niemann Price Davis Mcgee Lf Crawford DH Baldelli Cf Upton Rf Young 3B Longoria 1b Dukes SS Bignac 2B Iwamura/Guzman/Nowak C Navarro Bench Jennings ? ? ? Bullpen Trade Mason or Townsend for pen help or switch to bullpen
October 2, 200718 yr Why did you leave out the best position player they had last year? he's a free agent
October 2, 200718 yr Author Im not particularly talking about next year, notice Jennings on the bench.. its going to take a little while for brignac longoria mcgee price davis and neimann to devlop as major leaguers
October 2, 200718 yr Author Im just astonished at the level of potential talent at every whole on the team. Curious to know why you left Shields out of the rotation. With the kind of starting pitching they have coming up... They could trade sheilds for some pen help, or a 2B.
October 2, 200718 yr I think hell would have frozen over atleast 3 times before the Rays win the division.
October 2, 200718 yr Author I think hell would have frozen over atleast 3 times before the Rays win the division. The rays have never had pitching in their existence. How can you look at those players and what they can become and not even consider it?
October 2, 200718 yr Why did you leave out the best position player they had last year? he's a free agent No he isn't.
October 2, 200718 yr Author Why did you leave out the best position player they had last year? he's a free agent No he isn't. Everywhere I look hes a free agent after the season. I know Boras wanted 15 mill a year deal. I know the Drays dont bite on that. What source shows Pena in TB in 08?
October 2, 200718 yr He still has two more years of arbitration left before he's a FA The talk is that the Devil Rays want to lock him up long term.
October 2, 200718 yr He is NOT a free agent after this season, he has two years of arbitration left. The Rays have been rumored to want to buy out those years. That is what you are thinking of. He will absolutely be a Ray next season. Edit: Late.

October 2, 200718 yr Maybe...? Do the Red Sox start showing their age more and more? Is Matsuzaka the pitcher we saw in September? Is Phil Hughes a product of New York hype? Is ARod a Cub? What on earth are the Yankees going to be able to do for their 2009 outfield? Is there a limit to how much either club can spend to fix its expensive mistakes? The Rays system has to be the envy of most any other team in baseball, but that's not good enough to win on its own, it needs money thrown in there, too.
October 2, 200718 yr a run for their money? no offense but that is laughable Um why's that because they will always be outspent and be out-talented by ny and boston as long as their is no salary cap...the pirates have a better chance of winning their division next year than the drays winning theirs in the next 10 years

Even though it discredits my point, I think Phil hughes would be hyped if he were playing for Pittsburgh... .86 career whip in the minors, besides the small sample size, my expectations for him are as high as anyones right now...

See: Mets, New York If all those players reach close to their potential, then maybe.

October 3, 200718 yr I would disagree with you there, but I suppose it depends on how you measure success.
