I don't care if you don't care for his music; but what he did in that weather, in the shoes he was wearing, while playing the guitar, was absolutely amazing.

I think that's probably my point. I actually LIKE his music. The performer, however, is whack. Something about a guy in platform shoes and an outfit that could have come from a gay cabaret singer that seems out of place during half time of a sport featuring modern day gladiators.

 

Was he actually live? I thought it was a prerecording. If he was truly live, I will have to award him some extra credit.

I'm not a huge fan of his music, though I do enjoy it...I just liked the presentation. I was at the game and thought the show was awesome and much more redeemable than the actual shitshow of a game.

I'm a big fan of Petty's music, but this is questionable. Prince brought the house down last year, and McCartney was pretty awesome a few years back as well.

I like the idea of having a regional, somewhat unknown band that would absolutely rock the house at the super bowl. The Dropkick Murphys would put up an amazing show, and their ties to Mass. would make sense. I mean seriously, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers??? What does he have to do with the Super Bowl and/or sports? Why can't they at least get someone that is somewhat modern?

 

Dropkick Murphys opening with "State of Massachusetts" with Boston owning pro sports right now would kick so much ass.
