MB.com Community Projection: Cameron Maybin MONDAY 2/25/08

Featured Replies

This will probably be the most interesting projection to date.

We will be doing our highly regarded outfield prospect(who just happens to still be wearing braces), Cameron Maybin.

In this case, we don't know if Cameron will start the entire year, so just give projections of what you think he will do in 384 at-bats (which is what the sporting news projects) 384 at bats is a little over half a season.

For those of you unfamamilar with how this works, simply project the following numbers that the player will put up in 2008. At the end of the day, I take everones projections and a average them together to see what we, as a group, think they will do.

AVG-

OBP-

HR-

RBI-

SB-

Here is a recap of the players we have done so far:

Hanley Ramirez

.314 AVG, .385 OBP, 28 HR, 84 RBI, 48 SB

-Dan Uggla

.274 AVG, .345 OBP, 30 HR, 91 RBI, 7 SB

-Jeremy Hermida

.309 AVG, .383 OBP, 23 HR, 89 RBI, 10 SB

-Josh Willingham

.279 AVG, .370 OBP, 27 HR, 100 RBI, 3 SB

-Mike Jacobs

.268 AVG, .331 OBP, 22 HR, 80 RBI, 2 SB

Why are everybody's stolen base numbers so low? His projection on the basepaths is as high as Hanley's.

Your numbers are supposed to be based on half a season's AB's.

384 at bats is more like 2/3 of a season considering most players get between 550 and 650 at bats in a full season.

I guess I'll change my numbers based on that if I must, but I believe he's going to be up and starting the majority of the time.

Thats over 110 games.

I don't think he has the pop yet, and I think he'll steal whenever he can to prove he can. He is going to get caught 1/4 of the time stealing.

He's too raw, so he won't get the walks/hr's but he'll get the contact numbers.

AVG: .226

OBP: .265

HR: 4

RBI: 25

I'm serious. Kid isn't even close to being ready.

The guy in your signiture could do better than that.

C'mon, he will not be that bad.

Just a reminder to all, the projections should be for a little over half a season.
