Houston

Featured Replies

Well I scored some tickets for Friday's game against the Astros and I was able ot schedule a 'business' trip to get to Houston. Does anyone know where ethe Marlins stay in Houston? How about places to eat/drink near the team hotel or the ball field. I here it is an easy place ot park, Agree?

Thanks for the help!!

As far as parking goes, it isn't all that great. It's sort of like the AAA, with a bunch of small lots. They are pretty expensive too. Now then, as far as the park goes, you are in for a beautiful game. I, as a 1/4 Stros fan, am in love with the ballpark. Absolutly stunning, especially when you are used to Dolphin Stadium.

Ditto on what Rab said.

I remember them telling me that the closer you park, the more expensive it is.

But yeah... Minute Maid is a beautiful park.

Don't forget to take pictures for all us to see... :)

Nice.... I'm jealous. My goal is to see the Marlins play in every BallPArk in America before I die.

So far I have only seen them in....

Dolphins Stadium (duh)

Miller Park

Wrigley Field

This year I will be attending the Marlins Series in St.Louis

Busch Stadium

Also, the Twins are getting a new stadium by 2010 I assume at some point through interleague play they will play there. By the way all the renderings of the enw Twins park I have seen look pretty nice and I am excited to go see it when it is done. I just wish the Marlins would play there at least once a year. I think they should do like basketball and make sure that every team visits every stadium at least 1 series each year. (yea I know that would probably mean less division games, but I am ok with that).

My dad lives in the Houston area and I find it to be one of the most pointlessly boring areas ever.

Maybe you're just a pointless and boring person.

I guess it depends on someones opinion.

I first went to houston with my family back in 2002. I thought it was boring cause I didn't know the place and didn't know what there was to do.

But I did go again last year with Rab for a weekend and I had fun.

We're going again in May for his sisters graduation. So yeah... I like houston but I guess it depends on how one first takes it in.

I lived in Houston for about a year. Back before most here were even born, probably. It is in no way a boring place. But it is even more spread out than the Miami area.

Hahaha, while I was there all I could think of is jeez I am in a massive Broward County with more interstates/less palm trees.

Houston has gotten 100% more boring since they killed Astroworld.

Didn't know they had killed that place. But in all honesty I only went there once and that was for a Blue Oyster Cult concert.

There is a good night life if you know where to go. Bar hopping could be difficult because it is so spread out, but... The girls I dated there liked shopping and there is plenty of that with all the malls and the tunnels under downtown. And sightseeing, the high point to me being NASA just a bit down the highway. Good restaurants and a big variety of them. Galveston is just down the highway a bit. San Padre Island (think that's the correct name) just a bit further. And plenty of good beaches if you know where to look.

Maybe I just had good people showing me around. Or maybe I was just a bit more adventurous. Probably a combination of the two. But "bored" was never in my vocabulary there. Of course it could be I am just more easily entertained. LOL

Most of the visiting teams stay at a Hotel called the Westin Galleria. It is right next to an extremely large shopping area near loop 610 in Houston. They usually stay there so the players wives can spend money while their husbands are playing baseball. The rooms are not that expensive and the area is really nice. Plenty of places to eat and things to do in the Galleria area. Parking is $10.00 near the park, but only $15.00 right across the street from the left field entrance, (Crawford street) hence "Crawford Boxes" There are usually plenty of parking spots up close because most poeple don't want to pay $15+ dollars to park.

I should know.

We sat there last year when went to go see the 'Stros take on the Brew Crew.. and I had a headache the entire game.

It was brutal.
