...is turning into a nice looking prospect.

Everyone kind of discounted him at the beginning of last year since he was a 24 year old playing in the Sally league, but he tore the cover off the ball .333/.429/.519 - 13 HR's and 54 SB in 116 games.

This year making the jump to Carolina he's looked real comfortable so far - his average is right up around .300 and his OBP around .400 (.298 and .399 respectively). He's also been a stolen base machine - 18 SB while only being caught 3 times in 49 games.

You have to wonder, given the fact that he was drafted out of college, when he will get a shot with the big club. I don't see how he'll fit into our future plans (which also begs the question - what kind of trade value does he carry right now?), but he could be a nice guy with good pop, range, and speed to come and play off the bench if he keeps hitting like he has. (batting .395 in his last 43 ABs)

IMO He will take over for Willingham next year. His defense is better, he has much better speed and he should be able to provide equal to slightly less production at a much cheaper cost.

He can play all 3 OF spots so I wouldn't mind seeing him get some action with the big league club later this year. Very valuable piece in our organization, and I'd hate to see us move him.

Even though hes 24, with only 162 Ab's past Low A ball I have doubts we'll see him at all this year. I found it kind of funny after begging for a Cf for a couple years one falls into our lap right after we acquire Cam.

I was very high on him coming out of college and has hasn't disappointed.

Nice little future outfield we have with Raynor/Maybin.

I would really like to see him raise his avg against RHP. His OBP and SLG are good against them though so im not too concerned.

John Raynor has been a solid prospect since he was drafted. He is a player that is solid in all areas We will be hearing his name a lot more very soon. I guess most of us were expecting Cousins to be the first to arrive but Raynor has been consistent and relatively injury-free

Don't forget about Stanton.. Future outfield of Raynor (LF) Maybin (CF) and Stanton (RF) ?
