Lo Duca is/was better, stronger arm, didnt strike out often, and was clutch with the game on the line. your arguing with yourself on this one. What are you talking about? He didn't over-analyze anything. You made a baseless argument and he challenged you on it. You're still comparing what Lo Duca did three years ago to what Treanor is doing now. If we made a trade for Lo Duca now, we wouldn't get that version but instead a worn down incapable catcher.
June 22, 200818 yr Seriously...Gregg + any young pitcher (pick one from the minors) to Texas for their BACKUP CATCHER, Jarrod Saltalamacchia. The Rangers are not a terrible team...they need bullpen help. Gregg would help them. Add that to a young pitcher...perhaps like Vanden Hurk (I don't care...just anything but Volstad, Tucker, or Miller, at this point), and you've got a deal. Saltalamacchia doesn't even friggin start for Texas. Gerald Laird has gotten more playing time. Texas gets bullpen help, and a good young pitcher for years to come. We get Salty to help us out for the rest of the year, and for years to come. And if anything...Texas still has Ramirez and Teagarden for the "future catcher" title.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Texas traded Teixeira for Elvis Andrus and Jarrod Saltalmacchia (there may have been more involved, but it's inconsequential to my argument) it sends an awkward message to the fanbase to give up Teixeira for Saltalmacchia and then flip Salty for Gregg and a VandenHurk, that's taking pennies on the dollar. And yes, Rabb said it, Salty and one of Ramirez/Teagarden will start playing now. I actually see this as slightly beneficial though, because it's almost like an audition for that second/third catcher of their's that we're possibly targeting. Now, Salty who was a centerpiece of a big trade will be harder to get, Teagarden/Ramirez who weren't (I think Ramirez may have been, I don't remember) will come a lot cheaper, and put up a little bit less production feasibly, but at a better price.

Lo Duca is/was better, stronger arm, didnt strike out often, and was clutch with the game on the line. your arguing with yourself on this one. Im not over-analyzing anything... what's the point of saying Hate < Love the way you did then? Also, Lo Duca went .258/.314/.376 in 2004 and then .283/.334/.380 the next season Last year Treanor went .269/.357/.392 with a 2/3 K/BB ratio. This year he's not been too good... but much better than the staggering .193/.292/.263 that LOLDuca is putting up. So, no, he IS not better than Treanor at all, he may HAVE BEEN better, but if your paying for a player's past, we should be first in line to get Mike Piazza. Also, I don't like that clutch argument, in late and close games he went .252/.324/.374 with us in 2005... that's not really "clutch" at all. Basestealers went 89/118 against him, so he may have had a strong arm, but he sure didn't use it, throwing out only 25% of baserunners... a number which Treanor is mirroring this year... Every point you made about Lo Duca is so fallible, it's crazy, if you want him fine, Im not gonna say you can't want him, but I can say, as a fan of the same team, that you want Lo Duca is terrible for this team. Once again over-analyzing things, all from the "Love > Hate" Post... I wasn't talking about either player, I was talking about less bashing more accepting of others opinions. Take your foot of the gas, or your gonna crash.

June 22, 200818 yr Teagarden is the defensive stud of the bunch. Strong arm and a very quick release. The only doubts are about his bat but hes a career .275/404/526 hitter in the minors. He's been struggling at the plate this year unlike Max Ramirez, but Max Ramirez's defense is bad to say the least from everywhere I've read. It's really hard to tell who the would be willing to give up. Salty: Best Upside Teagarden: Best defense Ramirez: Out hitting the other two. (I know it's AA, but a 1.120 OPS leaves a real sweet taste in your mouth)

June 22, 200818 yr if we have to choose between ramirez or teagarden, teagarden has to be the choice. he is a much better defender and is a good, not great, hitter. maybe kevin gregg and one of our prospects should do it.

You did make a baseless claim, you said you wanted Lo Duca here in a discussion about upgrading catchers, again thinking this through, using logic, you see Lo Duca as an upgrade which he is anything but... I "jumped" you because you were terribly, terribly wrong/misinformed. Just as I would anyone, it's not special treatment, don't worry about that... if someone says something pretty much ridiculous and I have the means to prove them wrong, I will, that is the nature of a message board such as this. Oh, by the way, I don't sleep better knowing how Lo Duca hits in an 0-1 count either, for two reasons, number 1, because I don't know it off the top of my head (but I can look it up if I have to) and number 2, if I did know it, it would keep me awake wondering how such a poor hitter could remain in the major leagues depriving some minor leaguer of a chance to prove himself... Oh, also, living my life on the stats makes me right... it lets me live my life being correct, rather than ignorant and an (I think) somewhat respected member of this board because I hardly take personal shots at anyone and (again, I think) I'm a credible source of information... btw: in an 0-1 count, Lo Duca is .310/.312/.402 in his career, looks like I was wrong about that, I DO get to sleep well tonight
June 22, 200818 yr Who said you were wrong, because I didn't, you just over-analyze everything regardless of what it is you argue about it, its not a baseless claim I threw Lo Duca's name out there and you jumped me as usual. It's an opinion I dont sleep better because I know how Lo Duca hits with a 0-1 count on him and a runner on 2nd. No it's not a love fest but live your life on stats and see where it gets you. :thumbup , because I used facts to back up MY opinion. Good Night! Remember .310 in 0-1 Counts! :mischief
June 22, 200818 yr This thread has gone caca! GoFishX2...simple question...you said you wanted LoDuca back. Again, simple question...WHY? ...and try to give an explanation, supported with at least a stat or 2.

Man, you must leave places alot.
(I know it's AA, but a 1.120 OPS leaves a real sweet taste in your mouth) A .900 OPSing catcher is a VERY VERY good thing... I mean, c'mon. though you hit everything else on the head, I think that's a great way to describe them. If you're referring to Teagarden, i said but he is 275/404/526. The doubt is with the scouts, not here. I wouldnt complain about that line for a 1B.
