PWG he is 0-1 with a strikeout that is not a good start, I would much prefer taking chances with him next year in spring training.

thats just my opinion.

Not everyone is Jay Bruce and sets the world on fire upon being called up

Not everyone is Hermida and hits a Grand Slam in the first at-bat

It's entirely knee-jerk to sit there and "send him down" because he K'd

If we had called up Willie Mays, you'd have sent him down because he started slow? You have to give guys a chance...

Yea I suppose so, plus that was the Oakland A's he was facing. Not plural 1 at bat.

Furthermore (not that we should even have to delve further into this) Brown made some great pitches to him. It's one at-bat. It's one out made. And he's one of our best B type spects. Get over it.

I'm just saying, Jacobs is batting .238, horrible. I say move him to the bench, have Cantu play 1st were he seems comfortable and call up McPhearson to play 3rd. If that doesn't work out u can just go back to the way things are, I hate Fredi and him "going to the book" McPhearson deserves to be in the majors.

I dont know man, I mean I like your thinking but Jacobs can still hit and he hits home runs. I know he isn't doing great but we need him when we play the Phillies.

If he wants to stay in the lineup someone needs to teach him to lay off first pitches, my thought wuz because McPhearson is batting .300 with 23 Homers in the Pacific Coast League

Pitcher's park? The entire PCL is a hitter's league.

If Jacobs were in the PCL right now him and McPherson's numbers would be very similar. Yes McPherson walks alot more but you have to ask yourself if that would stay the same at the major league level. Also McPherson would be challenging Howard right now for the K crown. At best I think Mcpherson would be as good or worse than Jacobs.

From a defensive standpoint, you get Cantu over to first where he looks more comfortable and maybe an upgrade over Jacobs, and an obvious upgrade at 3b with McPherson plus you keep the Lefty in the lineup. Thats the only reason it would seem semi-appealing to me.

What would we do with him? He can't replace Andino or Jai Miller because he can't play CF, 2B, or SS. Wes Helms has been producing here in the Majors, so he isn't going to be sent off just to give Dallas "a shot". Cantu has been hitting just about as good as anyone, so Dallas can't take his spot. And Jacobs is Big Jake, so Dallas won't take his spot.

The time to call Dallas up was BEFORE we went on our AL tour. Not sure how we would do it now.

Was that sarcasm, as well?

Lets see...you just have basically complained about Miller b/c he K'd in what ended up being a meaningless AB, to begin with...his 1st AB, at that.

Yet, for Mike Jacobs, you go out of your way to say "I don't know man" for Jacobs...just b/c he hits HR's.

In the meantime, Mike Jacobs ON BASE PERCENTAGE is in the .270's...hitting 4th, in our lineup. Meaning a solid portion of the team has a higher batting average than our 4th hitters' .OBP.

If you're gonna complain about Jai Miller being up after 1 big league AB...why not Jacobs, as well?

read the whole thing, I complained about Jai BEFORE he batted, I have wanted them to call Mcphearson up for months because of Cantu's crappy defense, now that Cantu has shown that he can play first and since Jacobs has been an average player for the marlins, I say that we can place McPhearson at 3rd, Cantu at first, Jacobs on the bench, that gives us another hitter on the bench that can come in in late inning situations and help contribute to the team.

If it means giving Cantu the regular starting job at 1B, put me in the Jacobs to Texas for a catcher camp.

U read my mind, I would love to have Saltalamacchia on our team, even if that means giving up Jacobs and another pitching prospect.

We're not getting Saltalamacchia... especially for a Jacobs-based package

To get Salty it would require something like Tucker, Willingham + other stuff
