October 28, 200322 yr Gammons claims the NYY WILL trade Soranio and/or Nick Johnson for "more established players" New York has been hot for Lowell for a while now and with Aaron Boones struggles, they probably would still love to have him. Gammons mentioned that they could move Boone to 2nd to replace Soriano if he is dealt. So my question to you is...Would you move Lowell for Soranio if Casstillo signs elsewhere? My personal opinion is..hell yes. I love Lowell but he's one year removed from free agency, and will cost a ton to re-sign, while Soriano is only 25 years old, has more power, MUCH more speed and much more upside. The kid has sick talent...granted, he strikes out way too much, but he's still more than capable of being a 40-40 man and the only one that even sniff that teritory are the greats like Guerrero. I wouldn't use Soriano as a leadoff man though, obviously with Pierre here....he just doesnt have the swing to be a leadoff hitter, and i never understood why the Yankskept him there. Yes he's faster than almost anyone(except Juan P), but leadoff men aren't supposed to strike out much and he does...I'd bat him 4th or 5th and let him drive in runs instead of hitting all his HR's with no men on. Thoughts?
October 28, 200322 yr No way, Soriano is Kid "K" and is terrible defensively. I'd rather see Eric Young or that Hooper guy in the minors.
October 28, 200322 yr Yes. Then you put Cabs at 3B. And believe it or not, this deal SAVES the Marlins money.
October 28, 200322 yr the only problem if I have for Soriano is that he will already be making $3mil this year and he would most likely go up from there if you sign him longterm, then i dont have a problem with it i like Nick Johnson alot though
October 28, 200322 yr No way, Soriano is Kid "K" and is terrible defensively. I'd rather see Eric Young or that Hooper guy in the minors. Wow.
October 28, 200322 yr More Established Players = Castillo, Encarnacion, and Looper trade them for Johnson and Soriano I like the Idea Maybe, If the fish get nick johnson
October 28, 200322 yr No way, Soriano is Kid "K" and is terrible defensively. I'd rather see Eric Young or that Hooper guy in the minors. are you freakin kidding me?
October 28, 200322 yr Author Yes. Then you put Cabs at 3B. And believe it or not, this deal SAVES the Marlins money. IT saves us loads of money..Lowell will get 9 or 10 mil if re-signed to a long term deal..while Soriano is only in his first year of arbitration, so hell get 2.5-3 mil. Hope you're not serious about rather having a career minor leaguer like Hooper over a guy who hit 39 HR and 41 steals while hittng .300 last year and had 36 HR and 38 steals this year.
October 28, 200322 yr Soriano's #'s would go down here cause of the ballpark and the better pitching. Lowell has already proven he can put up the #s. However if you can keep Castillo then trade him for JOhnson
October 28, 200322 yr What about trading Penny for Johnson? What do you think about that? We would have to give up someone else. BUT, seeing that it's the Yankees (they might just want to move whoever doesn't fit), it's possible they do it straight-up.
October 28, 200322 yr Also, what do you do with Johnson when Stokes is ready? Johnson could man LF and Miami Fish Fan what do you mean my Soriano's numbers would go down because of better pitching? that makes no sense
October 28, 200322 yr Soriano's #'s would go down here cause of the ballpark and the better pitching. Lowell has already proven he can put up the #s. However if you can keep Castillo then trade him for JOhnson Soriano is a pull-hitter. PPS doesn't hurt pull-hitters much. Just ask, oh, Mike Lowell.
October 28, 200322 yr I'm sure there are going to be plenty of 2B Beinfest can dig out of the rough. Stop worrying about this. Enjoy the parade.

Thoughts? NO LOWELL IS TO MUCH FOR THIS TEAM TO LOSE! If you trade Lowell you trade our fans too.
October 28, 200322 yr You put Johnson in LF. Conine Might Retire (Just an Assumption) the season stokes comes in to start because i think will be 39 or 40 then?
October 28, 200322 yr Soriano's #'s would go down here cause of the ballpark and the better pitching. Lowell has already proven he can put up the #s. October 28, 200322 yr I don't see anything in Johnson. Honestly, he looks like Giambi except with a less potent bat and a better glove. I'd rather have Conine at first and wait for the minor league prospects to develop.
October 28, 200322 yr NO LOWELL IS TO MUCH FOR THIS TEAM TO LOSE! If you trade Lowell you trade our fans too. No. WINNING draws fans to the ballpark. NOT players. Soriano gives us a better chance to win. All of you want to get Vlad. Well, Soriano is basically the same thing, but $10 Million cheaper.
October 28, 200322 yr Cape, im sorry but you are wrong about Nick. do your research before making judgment... every scout that has seen him swears he will win a batting title and a gold glove in his career and be a consistent 25-30hr man.
