Never mind how the whole team would have to collectively replace Cabrera, Cantu's done it all by himself. Amazing. Of course, now that Cabrera has had enough time get a decent handle on AL pitching, he may add 50 points across the board. Or not. In any case, Cantu should have a really good shot at comeback player of the year.

July 21, 200818 yr Cabrera is extremely likely to turn it around next season. Players struggling the first year when they change leagues isn't really anything new. After 3 strait seasons of a babip of .360 or higher, his is down to .308 this year....his walks are down, bb/k down, hr/fly down, LD% down...I really really doubt he'll continue to be like this. Cantu's been amazing for us but I don't really see the point in comparing the two. To say that Cabrera would be putting up the numbers he's putting up in DET, here, would be folly. Fact remains Cabrera's not here, Cantu's here, Cantu's producing for us offensively, and that's what matters.
July 21, 200818 yr How is someone able to post without a screen name or is it a "glitch" ? his names prob only 3 dots but right now cantu looks better than miggy there both basically the same as marlins 3 hitters that come up clutch so so fielders at 3rd pretty good at first the only diference is with cantu hes faster and he's on the winning team

I am sure many of us have been comparing this, just as we do compare how D-Train has given Detroit zero and about the same when he was pitching. Just the nature of things. Other than a straight comparison is that Cabrera has supposedly the superior bats around him. No knock on our lineup, the power numbers prove that, but doubtful that anyone is pitching around Hermida and Jacobs (Hammer being out much of the season).

July 21, 200818 yr no matter how you wanna compare them or not...bottom line is that replacing Cabrera with Cantu has not been a loss for the Marlins at all...good move so far Yeah in the long run we'll probably miss Miggy when Cantu starts to come back down to Earth...but as far as the first four months of 2008...we're in a solid position as far as Cantu over Cabrera, and thats what counts right now...
July 21, 200818 yr no matter how you wanna compare them or not...bottom line is that replacing Cabrera with Cantu has not been a loss for the Marlins at all...good move so far I'm not dismissing what Cantu has done as "bad", because he's done well for us. But replacing a .950+ OPS bat with a .830+ OPS bat, aswell as getting worse defense (Yes, Cabrera is horrible with the glove, but Cantu is just that bad, plus atleast Cabrera had a cannon), does not put us as not having a net loss. We've lost some at third, but Cantu has produced and that's what matters, because the chances of getting somebody who would have reproduced what Cabrera did with our resources was slim to none, and so what we've been able to get out of Cantu is huge for us.
