Nats RP Jon Rauch To Dbacks

Featured Replies

What sucks is they only had to give up Emilio Bonifacio.

If this is true we fuk up big time.

Rauch > Fuentes, plus we would have had him under control for 2 more years!!!!!!

I doubt the Nats would have traded within the division.

Plus, Bonafacio is their 6th best prospect and was having a pretty good year in AAA Tucson. It's not like the Nats just gave Rauch away.

Coughlan is a better prospect and that good year is pretty average and in a hitters league.

First of all, If we traded Coghlan for Jon Rauch, I'd blow a gasket.

Secondly, like I said before, I don't think the Nats would have traded within the division.

Not that I am the biggest fan of Dan Uggla in the world or anything but what are we planning on doing with Coughlan then?

Maybe Washington doesn't trade within the division but they clearly got raped and Coughlan would have been an upgrade over Bonaficio.

Coghlan will be our 2B, once Uggla is ready for his big payday.

I actually think the front office trades Uggla for prospects, before he becomes a free agent, and Coghlan will take his place at 2B.

This organization has traded their stars year after year, when will we finally get to keep them? I realize we signed Hanley Ramirez long term, but I don't want it to end there.

It's what we do and the only chance we have to compete with the big boys. Gotta get the premier talent when its young and (most important) cheap.

Even with a new stadium in place?

We'll still be a lower tier mid-market team, and I think the strategy works. If a superstar like a Hanley comes along...yea hopefully we extend them, but one bad contract can ruin a team like the Marlins for years, even with a new stadium IMO.

Robert Andino as a 23 year old in the PCL: .278/.322/.428/.750, 21 SB, 13 HRs, known for his defense. (598 ABs)

Emilio Bonifacio as a 23 year old in the PCL: .302/.348/.387/.735, 17 SB, 1 HR, known for his defense. (367 ABs)

Bonifacio is the better player, but not by much, they essentially traded a slightly upgraded Andino for Rauch.

I personally don't see the "they wouldn't trade within the division" because the Nationals are years away from contending, so what we do now is really of no concern for them. Although it's still certainly possible.

Wow...Bonifacio gets traded, and Orlando Hudson gets hurt on the very same night. The DBacks might have to trade for a 2B. As if their lineup needed another setback...

We could have given them so much better.

seriously. WTF.

Agree with Nny, who cares about trading within the division? The Nats aren't contending this year or next, Rausch isn't going to come back and haunt them. Hell the Marlins likely wouldn't keep him around long anyway.

This is baffling.
