October 29, 200322 yr only in terms of land cost. i assume this 320 million price cost includes acquring the land.
October 29, 200322 yr Is it at all possible at this point in time to have the stadium on the water? the only realistic waterfront site in Miami proper (downtown) would be Bi-Centennial Park which which would set off a thermonuclear attack from the herald likes of which you've never seen. the big problem there is that there is enormous underground utilities infrastructure in the area and biscayne blvd would have to be moved to the west. so short answer is no.
October 29, 200322 yr well thats unfortunate....a waterfront stadium would be the most aesthecially (sp) pleasing option out there.

And I remember back when Bicentenial Park was an option, they were going to build a huge park around the stadium. Not only that, but I heard somewhere they were thinking of building a huge shopping mall around the outside of the stadium, with maybe 5 shop intervals for gates/box offices. If they did that, they would rent out each shop, get a certain percentage of the stores profit (kind of like a "stadium tax").

Then build the baseball stadium where the American Airlines Arena is now. Why you need an indoor arena right on the water I have NO idea. Stupid idea. That was another one they pulled over on the public also. I vaguely remember a vote that they basically snuck in on a weekday that almost no one knew about, & the wording on the ballot was something like "if you want the arena, you vote NO but if you don't want it, vote YES." or some kind of confusing wording. Another screw-job by Micky Arison & the Miami politicians...
October 29, 200322 yr well then if the 320 million does not include land then how is it too expensive to build the park on the waterfront.... i know the cost of acqiring land itself is costly... but as far as stadium constuction a waterfront site is not really more expensive than a land-locked site.
