They say that our starting pitching is bad, but they fail to meniton that we had hendrickson, tucker, badenhop, and vanden hurk as our pitchers during the first 3 months of baseball. They fail to mention getting back JJ and sanchez and the impressive pitching of volstad. What do the marlins have to do to get some damn respect?

August 5, 200818 yr We're not going to get any respect this season because nobody outside of Florida knows who J.J., Anibal and Volstad are. J.J. and Anibal have only had 1 good season in the bigs prior to this year, and Volstad is a rookie. It is cool that we got 3 top of the rotation starters back this late in the year, but nationally, they don't have a reputation as big time pitchers yet. For people on the outside looking in, they may just see it as us replacing bad starters with more bad starters. They don't understand how important these guys have been to our ballclub, especially J.J. and Anibal. Also, this rotation hasn't had time to get hyped like the one in 2003 did. Our rotation in 2003 had a top of the line prospect coming into his own (Beckett), 2 guys who had already had some solid seasons in the bigs (Penny and Burnett, although A.J. got hurt), and a sensational attention grabbing rookie in Dontrelle. The rotation this year has a couple of solid prospects coming off huge injuries (J.J. and Anibal), another couple of solid prospects having nice bounce back years (Nolasco and Olsen), and a highly rated rookie who has an under the radar personality in Volstad. In short, the backgrounds of these guys just isn't as sexy. None of them throw harder than 95 or so, none of them have been exposed to the national media yet, aside from maybe Anibal's no-hitter.

ESPN does give the rays more praise but they'll always be sucking the red sox balls. the whole staff of ESPN is obsessed with the red sox yet inside they know they'd trade the red sox roster for the rays roster.
