Downtown Stadium Backlash?

Featured Replies

People who can afford season/corporate tickets are subarbanites who have money. And suburbanites who have money will not, have not and never will ride public transportation. Most of them would rather not go. You can jump up and down arguing until you are blue in the face that Miami public transpo is the greatest thing since sliced bread and it doesn't mean a thing.

It's not the greatest thing in the world but it's a great option. If you don't wanna ride it, then drive. I personally don't care where the stadium is. I'd still go.

all i say is that instead of getting of us 27 onto the turnpike, i drive to the palmetto station and my father/mother uses his/her retired metro employee, we pay for my ride and parking and we are off the Miami. My mother still has nightmares about riding the mterorail, but luckily all the games we will go to are day games since my parents cannot see well at night and driving to fort myers at night is too much for them.

Cape, no offense but what the hell did you say?

I know with a downtown stadium that I can kiss mooching my parents season tickets goodbye. They just won't buy them. Of course by then hopefully I can stop mooching alltogether. I think I talked them into going to ONE hockey game at the Miami Arena and ONE basketball game in all the time that those teams played there (when I was young and without a vehicle). This would just seriously suck. New ballparks don't mean much when it means me going to 5-10 games a season instead of 40-50. Blah!

again, you win some fans, you lose some fans.

i, for one, would be going to A LOT more games if the stadium were downtown.

it's totally about demographics.

Don't worry guys, I promise to be a corporate sponsor for a skybox in the next stadium, after the one that is going to be built is old and decrepid.

My family has has season tickets for 7 seasons and will continue to buy them until the team moves. I consider a downtown stadium a downright betrayal. That is just a miserable miserable place to go with a large crowd.

I'd love to see trafic in Downtown Miami on postseason games... that should be fun.

there is zero traffic in downtown miami at night. none.

You didn't?

The traffic was f***ed up from Flager ST on I95 on til Broward.

Oh, but you're an idiot fan that doesn't go to games northbound.

It took like 90 minutes from Downtown to the stadium. But from the stadium to downtown it probably took like15 minutes.

And the traffic would be less because people are already downtown and metrorail and fans coming south so we'll see. . .

No offense lady but if you were a real fan instead of some bandwagoner which you appear to be, you would drive for 10 minutes extra to go to a nice stadium to see your boy Bradley pitch.

there is zero traffic in downtown miami at night. none. Games start at 8pm. People leave their homes an hour or two before the game starts, so for example, 6pm you get on the Palmetto from Kendall going to 836 to Downtown. You'll get there after midnight. :thumbup

the traffic going TOWARD downtown is zero at 6pm. traffic in downtown itself is non-existant after people get out from work.

ok guys,

this needs to be stopped. it is currently in the hands of the marlins and they have only been able to get a deal in dade. arguing over something like this which is out of your control is senseless.

If you were not scared of taking the metro-rail ( a lot of pussies on this board are :p ) you would and it would take 20 minutes.

But . . .

If I'm heading down to Miami to watch a night game. I usually leave my house around noon to arrive at PPS at around 4:45pm.

ok nevermind that one. From Miami Lakes to Downtown and yes I've driven a car in Miami before.

then why the f*** are you talking about traffic in Downtown Miami

cuz you've been to PPS 2 times?

PPS aint even 8 miles from Downtown

sorry buddy but until my pals from Broward, PPC, and from tiny towns throughout Florida quit crying about the location I won't stop

miami15, even if you gone once or 2,500 times to Miami-Dade County you notice that traffic is horrible.

sorry buddy but until my pals from Broward, PPC, and from tiny towns throughout Florida quit crying about the location I won't stop as soon as you let the fire die down, they will stop crying. stop adding wood to their fire.

I'm not crying. I don't mind driving an extra couple of miles. I'm already used to being stuck in traffic are wasting a full tank of gas in one day.

Fine Fish! Since you are too damn hard headed to any other perspective than your own, you keep on fighting the fight. Its all about you and people like you right? Screw everyone else as long as we don't alienate the fans from up north who started showing up when the Marlins were in the playoffs right?

No one is going to ever be able to have a sensible conversation with you, because you are too damn stubborn or something to realize that you can't have your way every time.
