November 5, 200322 yr Should we really stay in our present location because you can't mess with success and we had great crowds in July!
November 5, 200322 yr Let's look at populations: Dade County is almost 3 million people. Broward is around 1.5 million...Palm Beach is not even 1 million...put the ballpark where the people are, and by public transportation. Broward cannot offer that, and have not even come forward with a location. Look what happened when the Panthers moved up there??? The same thing would happen to the Marlins in Broward...everyone said that the Panther's fan base was up there...where are they now??? Also remember that Metrorail will be expanded to PPS, which means Broward fans could park there and ride the train in to downtown... ..By the way, the Sun Sentinal is owned by the Chicago Cubbune, and they routinely use that paper to further their Cub agenda...
November 5, 200322 yr You know what? I went to Dolphin Mall last night and as my mom and I were driving down 107th ave (right before 25th street), we noticed a big chunk of land just sitting there. I don't know who owns that land or if it's for sale, or what. But I thought that would be a nice place to put the stadium thing. Problem is that over there, there's no MetroRail access and I don't even know what bus routes pass by there. What a shame. :confused
November 5, 200322 yr ad I wish that everyone would stop crying about where the new stadium will be built. Going to the World Series is like going to church on Christmas..... It is a sad fact that money can get you into a game like that with great seats when you haven't attended a game all year!!! A decision needs to made now on where a new stadium will be built. This team is Hot now and someone needs to step up to the plate and finalize the deal before they are offered a deal they can't refuse. We will all be stuck crying in South Florida when our team gets shipped out of traveling distance for all of us....

What a shame. :confused Which side? to this side of the turnpike (next to the mall) or the other side? If it is the other side part of it belongs to Rinker, Inc. There is about 7 to 8 acres for sale of that land. This is when you get out of the turnpike north to NW 12th St. and it would be to your right. Is that what you are talking about?
November 5, 200322 yr I think it's the other side. Ok, you know where you turn on 107th Ave from 36 street (or 42 st....the street # changes when you enter Doral), to your right there's a big chunk of land. That's what I was talking about. Something funny my mom said was that if they have never built Dolphin Mall, that land could've been perfect for a new stadium. ::sigh::

It is right of NW 12th Street at the other side of the turnpike... It is huge... However, I do not know how much land would they actually require for the stadium (counting parking lots and all).

November 5, 200322 yr Thats still too far south for these people. See unless they can open their backyards and center field is right there, its too far. Broward citizens want the damn thing in down town Ft. Lauderdale, but they can't get it through their thick heads that Broward wants nothing to do with a stadium. Building it across the street from PPS will cost more money because the land isn't owned by the county. So no matter what you do, you can't win. :banghead
November 5, 200322 yr Author Fine Fish! Since you are too damn hard headed to any other perspective than your own, you keep on fighting the fight. Its all about you and people like you right? Screw everyone else as long as we don't alienate the fans from up north who started showing up when the Marlins were in the playoffs right? No one is going to ever be able to have a sensible conversation with you, because you are too damn stubborn or something to realize that you can't have your way every time. I don't know why you are so defensive with this whole North -v- South thing. Fact is no one showed up early this year from PB, Broward OR Dade. And you are incorrect in assuming I want to see it built up here. This whole deal is a train wreck, and I'd rather have it happen in Miami than in Broward or PBC. Let's look at populations: Dade County is almost 3 million people. Broward is around 1.5 million...Palm Beach is not even 1 million...put the ballpark where the people are, and by public transportation Great stats. And I'm sure the populatons of the respective counties were similar throughout the first ten years of the franchises' exisitence. Which begs the question: If it was in the most populous county before and no one went, what makes one think that a new stadium will fare any better? Especially considering the new location provides worse traffic and is not as centrally located to the whole metropolitan area as it's predecessor. This is Detroit all over again, only even worse in that the Tiger's ownership had more money and more civic support.
November 5, 200322 yr Fact is no one showed up early this year from PB, Broward OR Dade. First time I've agreed with you all topic long.
November 5, 200322 yr This is Detroit all over again, only even worse in that the Tiger's ownership had more money and more civic support. Yes, but the Tigers got a stadium but didn't get Dave in time to be ready for the opening and to try and put a winning product. Detroit loves it's Tigers, but the Red Wings have priority. The Illitches are lucky because they have the Red Wings in their empire there and that detracts from the Tigers' shortfalls.

This whole deal is a train wreck, and I'd rather have it happen in Miami than in Broward or PBC. Ok, now you're just contradicting yourself. Didn't you say earlier in the thread that a lot of the attendance were from Browad/Palm Beach?? And weren't you the one who said this?..... Assume for a moment I am the anti-Loria, hell-bent to build a stadium in the worst place possible. When I get out my map, I want to find a location with horrible freeway access and mind numbing traffic. Then I look for the most sparsly populated area in almost any metropolitan area (Downtown) and for added effect make sure there is no money and lots of crime. Bingo!!! Downtown Miami!! And as an added bonus I'll alienate 20-30 percent of my fan base that lives in FTL or farther north by moving the stadium yet farther away.
November 5, 200322 yr Palm Beach is not even 1 million... Actually PBC has over 1 million. 1.3 to be exact.
November 5, 200322 yr Don't fight with Fillet. He is a Tigers/Marlins fan who just is a wondering lost soul. The man has seen the most horrific baseball events happen to him in a period of less than 10 years.
November 5, 200322 yr Guys, this is getting to be annoying. Dade County has pledged the money, unless Broward or Palm Beach can match/beat, we won't see it there. Hopefully we can get the money needed and get it built, then we can try to get more fans in to the ballpark from there.
November 5, 200322 yr Don't fight with Fillet. He is a Tigers/Marlins fan who just is a wondering lost soul. My apologies...
November 5, 200322 yr It'll never happen, but the Dolphin Mall area would also be a good place for the park, and they would just have to extend MetroRail past the airport, (that branch has already been approved...)
November 5, 200322 yr Which begs the question: If it was in the most populous county before and no one went, what makes one think that a new stadium will fare any better? Enough with you idiots saying PPS was in Dade County. Big deal! It is in our county but it is closer and an easier drive from Broward than from Dade. Just consider the ballpark was 1 mile up the road in Broward. Big difference! And for the dumbass that suggested Dolphin Mall Stadium: Please lets not make this a Panthers stadium in the middle of nowhere! No improvement at all over PPS!
November 5, 200322 yr And for the dumbass that suggested Dolphin Mall Stadium: Please lets not make this a Panthers stadium in the middle of nowhere! No improvement at all over PPS! YOU are the dumbass because you don't f***ing read!! I never said, "Oh we should do it by Dolphin Mall." I said it would've been NICE. Next time pay attention when you read something, dumbass.
November 5, 200322 yr I said it would've been NICE. Why would that be nice? I can read! And I know a stadium near Dolphin Mall would not be nice!
November 5, 200322 yr I said it would've been NICE. Why would that be nice? I can read! And I know a stadium near Dolphin Mall would not be nice! Maybe not for you, but I would appreciate better than Broward f***ing County
November 5, 200322 yr Why would that be nice? I can read! And I know a stadium near Dolphin Mall would not be nice! Because there is land available. The only thing is parking lots. Yea....sure you can read. ::rolls eyes:: Whatever. You're blowing this way out of proportion. It was only something we thought about. We know it's never going to happen. We're not as stupid as you THINK we are. Hell, that land isn't even negotiations for building a stadium. Don't start acting like if you're Hot s*** and come out and give me some stupid response.
November 5, 200322 yr But I thought that would be a nice place to put the stadium thing. Okay that is what you said, and I see what you meant but I think even thinking of a park out there is ridicuolous!

Okay that is what you said, and I see what you meant but I think even thinking of a park out there is ridicuolous! Look man, there really is no reason to argue that site because it's not going to happen. I never said it was going to happen. Get that through your head.
