Red Sox unveil new uniforms

Sox to Unveil new Logo, alternate uniform

Purists, beware: Thursday, the Red Sox have plans to unveil ?changes to the ballclub?s logos? and ?select uniforms.? Manny Delcarmen, Jim Rice, Jerry Remy and other club officials will be on hand for the announcement/unveiling.

It?s likely the team will reveal a new ?alternate uniform,? to either replace or supplement the red tops the team often wears for Sunday home games.

There?s no word yet on what the new logo will look like, or whether it will replace the existing one, which dates back decades.

love the new look. I love how the jersey's are back to the 1980's look. I also think the hanging Sox is one of the better logos in baseball. I wish the cap had a white outline instead of blue, but its a great alt cap.

This has been talked about for about 2 weeks now on CCSLC with a few leaks. I hope the alt cap becomes a primary cap though. I also hope they update the primary logo and have boston lose the sans-serif font and update the baseball stitching.

someone did a full mockup of all the new red sox stuff.

I really like it. Looking at it completely. I love the alts and the away. I love the updated Circle logo with the Sox and the Boston Red Sox script.

I don't like it. I mean, it's just a pair of socks for crying out loud!

being from NEw England that is the only hat you see around town. That and a Red B logo hat. So it is good to actually see it on an actual alternative hat. It is also cool that besides the Indians the red sox are now the only other team to use a Logo thats not a Letter or Script as the main logo.

Mockup. Is that "Boston" for 'Markup'? :mischief

mock draft... a mockup?

Mock-up

–noun

a model, often full-size, for study, testing, or teaching: a mock-up of an experimental aircraft.

Also, mockup.

so am I, just bustin' balls back.

I also don't like it.

compared to a marlins hat of course, but compared to the old Boston logos its nice.

I mean how much nicer is the new version of this logo:

I've never been a fan of the socks. They just don't look good on a hat or jersey, in my opinion. I rather have the B, but I can understand getting sick of it.

It's just a pair of stinky socks! :D

I never Understood why they choose Red Sox. If I had a team and I could choose a name I would choose something dangerous or more appealing than being named after a Pair of Soxs.

They were the Red Sox by being identified by what color socks they wore. Sort of like how the Reds used to be the Red Stockings, and the White Sock, and the old Providence team the Gray Socks etc...

Boring name, but now its unique and pretty cool. And to think the Red Sox used to be the hated Boston team. When the Boston Braves were around they were the favorite team and the Boston Red Sox were an after thought.

Yeah that is just a matter of opinion but I like the new logo. The letter B is just to boring and being Called the Red Soxs just doesn't help.

That's pretty much not true. For the last 20 seasons of the Braves being in Boston, the Sox were on average 4 out of 8 in attendance and the Braves were 6.3 out of 8.

not just attendance... I mean Fenway park was much nicer than the bee hive. Also during the last 20 years in two the red sox had the popularity of Ted Williams and the Braves really only had Warren Spahn. Overall though the Braves were loved much more than the red sox throughout history. The decline of the braves came with the the red sox success in the 40's. Up until the 1920's it was all Boston Braves. Then both teams had about 20 years of horrible teams and then the Red Sox got good in the 40's and the was the end of the Braves and off they went.

Well, you made it sound as if the Braves were the team until they left. Strangely, just going by attendance, the Red Sox had better attendance from atleast 1910.
