Lindstrom leaves WBC game with injury

Featured Replies

To bad a homerun is still a homerun. I think people who beam batters are asshole. That could had been a Marlin player position getting beam from another pitcher, and I'll be more piss of that then being happy of Lidstorm beaming someone.

I like it.

If a hitter has the right to take their sweet time staring at a ball...not to mention, his team was down 8-1 (so he was just showing off), a pitcher should have the right to bean someone, so long as he doesn't hit him above the waist.

It's old school, and it should comeback to the game.

Obviously Lindstrom wasn't the only one with a problem, considering David Wright's initial reaction.

Damn It!! he got too fired up and hurt himself i really dont like this classic for this reason.

Players can get injured during Spring Training too! :o

Yeah... I dont get that too much. Baseball is baseball and IMO you have an equal chance of getting injured no matter where you are... unless you are on the bench the entire time.

Its not beaming, its beaning. Bean ball. Not beam ball.

Just talked to someone close to Lindstrom and the doctor told them that it wasn't the rotator cuff at all. All it is is a little inflammation behind his shoulder. There is no structural damage and once he gets back into his regular routine he will be fine. Not pitching for a week, throwing a light bullpen, and then going full bore on Sunday (a week later) is not good. The doctor said that if it was game 7 of the world series he could pitch, it would just take longer to heal. He will be ready opening day for sure.

IMO with a lot of the major leaguers watching Lindstrom throw the ball at someone who was show boating was a great message to whoever pimps a home run off him. You've got to like that intensity and message he sent on National T.V.

I think guys who pimp solo homers down 6 runs in the 8th are assholes. I really have no probelm with what matt did and would rather let the players police themselfs then have umps handing out warnings and ejections left and right.

Yeah but players are more likely to tell their managers before games that they're not feeling right during spring training too. According to Davey Johnson, Lindstrom didn't say anything.

Which is why the Classic, if they're going to have it at all, should be held after the season, not before it. In March, these guys' bodies, especially pitchers, are in no shape to go that hard.

And Freddi Gonzalez said, when he was watching the game, he didnt pick up that Lindstrom looked hurt. So it might be a good thing it happened under someone that noticed something was wrong.

You are right a homerun is a homerun. That homerun didn't mean much except to the kid who hit it. Down 8-1 come on run around the bases already even David Wright thought so. Those who show up a Marlin player/pitcher is the "a" hole, not the actual marlin player sending a message. Besides look at the message that was sent around the league. If you pimp a homerun, there is a chance you could get hit. This is called baseball etiquet (s.p.) or old school like Erik mentioned.

Gee...it was a typo, but thanks?

On Monday afternoon during the team's workout, (Davey) Johnson said Lindstrom was undergoing an MRI and would miss the rest of the tournament. He was upset that Lindstrom did not tell the coaching staff that he had soreness while warming up in the bullpen.

"I just wish he had said something," Johnson said. "I had conversations with him from day one, if anything is bothering him we have other guys. We can't take the chance. He's done."

Heaven forbid Chris Ianetta who knew it before the first pitch, should of said something or maybe Davey Johnson might stop looking for a scapegoat and take some responsibility himself. If you're a bullpen coach you're out there for a reason, you know you've got ask because the player nine times out of ten is always ready to take one for the team.

Here is some insider stuff. Lindstrom was playing cards downstairs in the lobby of the hotel today with Adam Dunn, David Wright, and some other players. They were talking about the Netherlands game and the pitch Lindstrom threw at that Englehardt. Wright spoke up and told the group that he remembers when Matty brushed him off the plate (threw inside) when they were playing in New York. Wright then turned to Dunn and said, "yeah, and I about s*** my pants."

You see, the message is already taking effect/sinking in. :thumbup Hopefully!
