April 9, 200917 yr BONI WILL NOT FOLD, BONI WILL BE THE MAN ALL YEAR! I hope man so far in the series Boni has filled the spot we have been missing since pierre, a leadoff hitter Whoever the Marlins put to hit leadoff this year will not come close to the production Hanley has given as a leadoff hitter the past couple years. So I'm not sure what that means. but, but, but a LEAD-OFF hitter is supposed to not be able to hit home runs. I hate when my lead-off guy has a .380 OBP with a bunch of steals AND SLUGGING. I wish we had JP instead of Hanley.
April 9, 200917 yr its common sense to have your 3rd basemen leadoff followed by your catcher in the #2 hole. :thumbup only us! Can I Quote you on this?! Whoever the Marlins put to hit leadoff this year will not come close to the production Hanley has given as a lead off hitter the past couple years. So I'm not sure what that means. He probably means a player who's dangerous because he can fly. Something like the bunt can manipulate the defense into closing in. This can help for some hits that are usually easier to catch or react to if the IF is in its normal position. Sometimes it can open holes in the infield. Its seems minor, but its small stuff that can improve on the OBP which is key for a leadoff hitter. Hanley hit for power so the idea of him trying to bunt to get on probably never ran through their heads. Also his OBP stayed fairly average with the exception of last year, but thats mainly because he's a great hitter.

Not that any of it is very relevant b/c at the end of the day, Hanley will have a better .OBP, regardless. Not even getting into the added bonus of Hanley's power either...that wouldn't be fair to the argument b/c really...there is no argument. Hanley Ramirez was the BEST leadoff hitter in baseball last year.
