So the reporter asked him a question. He gives an honest answer that's factually correct. So he gets blasted. Weird world we live in.

I also don't understand the people making comments about Washington. He never said Washington is better and I'm sure he'll be making comments about Washington's crowd if he stays the coarse.

He made comments about our crowd while he was a Marlin. He made comments while he isn''t a Marlin. I don't see the problem. Given the choice, I'm sure he'd choose the Fish over the Nats. That doesn't change the fact what he said was true.

Scottie speaks some truth....I was at the game yesterday and I had a guy talking to my friend next to me on how attendance was "good" for being a 12:10 game.....IDK the attendance but it was so so in my eyes alot of empty seats, mosto f the attendance was made up by the kids....and hte man was saying people don't come because of how hot it is and stuff...there is some truth to it you want to be comfortable watching the team play but excuses like I get off of work at 5 i will never make it on time or stuff, other states do not seem to have that problem.....heck it was a horrible weather at the Reds vs Mets home opener and a great crowd was at hand

Then you did not see the video from the game. The tickets were sold for the opener, but the place was no more than 1/2 full due to the weather. Yesterday the place looked just like Dolphin stadium and the paid att was only 13,568 (tickets sold) with maybe 5+ in the stands. This has nothing to do with defending Marlin attendance, but let's get the posts correct if you are going to make statements of "fact".

I saw the game on SNY and could have sworn at the beginning of the game one of them said the weather is horrible but look at all the fans still here to watch the reds play, something to the sort.

So ignorant.

No, he's right, pretty much. I dunno if it is the worst, but it is certainly bad, and if you can't see that, you're either

1) Blind

or 2) Have never been to any other major U.S. metropolitan city.

I think Fish Dynasty is referring more to the huge crowds on average at UM and FSU football games as well as Dolphins games generally being crowded. Miami is and always will be a football first town.

Quite the hypocritical response if you've ever been to a Washington Nationals game.

When he play here, everyone thinks he was very good, now he is gone and made a statement most do not like, he is no good, wonders never cease.

When he played here everyone thought he was very good? Not everyone here at MB. Not most people here at MB.

how is it hypocritical? He never said washington was better

The Marlins do have alot of things working against them. Poor stadium for baseball in an inconvenient location, a string of bad owners including the current one who is quite possibly the worst the game has ever seen, being an afterthought to the national media, weather, etc. Hopefully a new stadium helps, although I think people might be getting their hopes up.

Good Like 10 wins a season good and if he's on and gets ahead of batters he can be very good

Olsen is not hating, he's speaking truth. Miami is not a baseball town. Miami has done nothing to prove it is a baseball town. All it has proven is that its citizens will hop on the bandwagon if the team is winning.

Miami is not a baseball , football , basketball, hockey or any sports town . Miami is probably the worst sports town in terms of supporting its local teams in America. That said I do think the marlins will draw better at the new stadium win or lose . The weather wont be a factor , the team wont be threatening to relocate , and more of the fan base in closer to the stadium . As for Olsen the Nationals arent as bad as the Marlins in terms of attendance but for new team in a new stadium they dont draw all that well. DC is not a baseball town.

I have to disagree, becasue i go to a plethora of games and the Marlins have the worst crowds by far in the last 3 years. The Panthers who haven't made the playoffs in i lost count how many years had more buts in seats then the fish did and teh Dolphins who were 0-7 and 0-13 at the times almost sold out the stadium. :confused

Then except for the heats awful season last year but they still had near sell outs on weekend games while the fish with ther Super Saturday's could barely hit 10,000 fans. This is not a baseball city and to add to it we play in a football stadium which holds 60,000+ which doesn't help the cause, and also why they are making the new stadium only 30,000 seats. Its sad when even the Maimi Hurricanes selL every game even when hey play a crappy tem like FAU in baseball. But there stadium is way smaller.

To sum it up, this is not a baseball town and the stadium is terribly located.

No. To sum it up..... Our attendance does deserve some bashing, but you could at least come close to the correct numbers. About anything.

ignorant how? they're on point.

Ignorant because it's an untrue generalization. There has got to be worse sports towns.

What are you talking about? You can't even compare the attendance in DC with the attendance in Miami. The Marlins have been at the very bottom of league attendance over the past 3 seasons, averaging just under 16,000 (15,986 to be precise). Those figures are 16,668 last year, 16,919 in 2007, and 14,372 in 2006. The last time the team exceeded an average of 20,000 was 2005.

The Nationals from 2005 through 2007, on the other hand, playing in a complete dump that makes Joe Robbie look like a palace, averaged 28,025 (24,217 in 2007, 26,580 in 2006, and 33,728 in 2005). They averaged 29,005 last year in the new stadium.

I'm not saying that these are great attendance figures, but they are significantly stronger than what the Marlins have drawn. I remember one Nats game last year in Miami when there were fewer than 1,000 people in attendance. So, while the Nats don't, and probaby never will, draw like the Red Sox or the Yankees, they get respectable attendance for such a crappy team. If they ever start to win, just like any team, the stadium will be sold out most of the time because Washington fans tend to be front runners.

Marlins TV ratings are always in the top 10 of baseball, so there's a viewership there. I fully believe that a new stadium will bring out more people, even after the newness wears off.
