Marlins ready to deal?

Featured Replies

They shouldnt even think about trading him. Watch when the season starts, they are going to regret even TALKING about traded him. He is very young with so much potential at his young career.

He and Beckett will be our aces for a long time, thats for sure.

Instead of all this trading talks, they should be putting forward a 2 year contract with Burnett. With two additional season as team options.

For example:

Year 1 - 2mill

Year 2 - 2mill

Year 3 - Team option at 4mill

Year 4 - Team option at 6mill

Year 1 - recovery year

Year 2 - Incentive the player to have a good year in order to get to 4mill

Year 3 - same as Year 2

I don't see why they'd trade Burnett. He's young, he won't cost that much- those are the two things the Marlins are looking for. Plus, he's got a LOT of upside.

It will cost the Marlins in excess of $3 million in 2004 to keep Burnett. I'm willing to do it, in fact I want to do it, but the cost can't be ignored by a low revenue team.

why do u want to get rid of redman?

is it bc he did bad in the playoffs?

he did good during the reg. season-like dontrelle willis

and dontrelle and redman both stumbled a little in the playoffs

if ur gonna get rid of redam for that reason-than u should also get rid of willis who hasnt fully proved himself yet.

Dontrelle will cost you $400k in 2004. Redman will cost over $3 million. If you need a lefty in your starting rotation which one do you choose? Bye bye Big Red.

Willis is 21 years old an makes about $3 million less than Redman, that's why you don't get rid of Willis. I can't believe you just said that.

They say his price will be the same this year through arbitration as it was last year, $2.5 Million.

That's not the reason, and nobody said it was.

The reason you trade Redman and keep Pavano is because Pavano (is):

A) Younger

B) Cheaper

C) Better

D) Will have Alysa in the stands

hes cheaper but thats bc hes not as good as redman.

He's cheaper because HE'S A ROOKIE.

BTW: Your arguement is still invalid, because Dontrelle is better.

dontrelle PLAYED better-but thats bc hes a rookie-and the other teams werent used to seeing him-but next year they will have a much better idea-not that dontrelle isnt good.redman will be better and we need the experience.

We need experience? yeah that really played a big factor in our WS championship. That said, all of our pitchers have been through a postseason we've got plenty of experience now.

redman will be better and we need the experience.

Will be?

I thought you said he already is?

Just because the league has seen Dontrelle doesn't mean he's not as good.

Dontrelle gained invaluable experience in the post-season this year. It's rare when a young pitcher gets that chance, and when one does, they use it for the rest of their careers. Ironically, the one thing IMO that killed D-Train after the AS break was his inexperience. He now has experience that some pitchers in their mid-thirties don't have.

and we didnt have so much experience-but thats why Pudge helped us out

if we get rid of pudge-were gonna need a leader with experience-not that it would have 2 b redman-but we need a guy like pudge with the experience.

he IS better now-and it will be much clearer next year-not that DW will do bad.

lol-well now u know

DW is good bc of hiss delivery-once they figure it out-hes easy 2 hit off of-although i hope i'm wrong about that since i want him 2 do good.

Wrong.

The only reason D-Train has ever struggled is because of control. WHen he is accurate, he is sicking.

Tough choice, but I'd deal Redman. He has flashes of greatness, but it comes and goes rather quickly

i'm scared thats what might happen to DW.

Why the hell Do you think that a 21 year old rookie has more of a chance of leaving the team than a 29 year old veteran?!?!?!

And on the situation of "figuring out" pitchers, i dont believe in that. If you cant hit the ball is because a combo of two things. Good pitching + Poor Hitting. And as we all know Good pitching beats good hitting ANY day. Just ask Derek Jeter and Sammy Sosa.

Dontrelle is a good pitcher, there is no such thing as figuring out, but he has had bad starts and pitched bad. That is all.

Bobby Valentine said something very true about hitting against Really Good pitchers (Ex: Mark Prior). He said that when you are in a situation like the marlins when you have 2 men on base and are losing 1-3 in the 8th inning, in order to hit you need to want to hit, it comes from inside. Derrek Lee ripped that ball on the first pitch cause he knew he was gonna be the one to seal the deal.

pavano better than redman?

pavano was only good in the playoffs

if it wasnt for redman we prob. wouldnt have made it to the playoffs.

Pavano was only good in the playoffs?

Let me see your hand so I can stamp it.

"BANDWAGON"

Next...? um wild card... were were you during the reg season??? just the numbers itself speak for itself. You need to stamp you own hand with dumbass
