April 26, 200916 yr Brett doesn't miss any bats. He's a control/GB pitcher his game goes as his control goes
April 26, 200916 yr I missed the first inning but I know he walked 2. He had a wild pitch that bounced in the grass before the dirt in the 3rd. Command isn't his strong suit.
April 26, 200916 yr I missed the first inning but I know he walked 2. He had a wild pitch that bounced in the grass before the dirt in the 3rd. Command isn't his strong suit. Which is why he went from a top prospect (when he had great command) to what he is now.
April 26, 200916 yr I never really got the Sinkbeil pick as he didn't sound like a terribly exciting pitcher from the moment he was drafted and we had already drafted so many pitchers in recent years that our system was seriously hurting in legitimate hitting prospects.
April 27, 200916 yr I never really got the Sinkbeil pick as he didn't sound like a terribly exciting pitcher from the moment he was drafted and we had already drafted so many pitchers in recent years that our system was seriously hurting in legitimate hitting prospects. There is never anything terribly exciting to most about a sinkerball/control pitcher.

There is never anything terribly exciting to most about a sinkerball/control pitcher. Volstad is certainly an exception to this, but when I think of first round picks I just imagine guys who have the potential to be dominant, a category that few pitchers like that really seem to fall into even if they turn out to be good major league pitchers. So picking Sinkbeil even while we were incredibly strapped for hitting prospects was very disappointing.
May 4, 200916 yr These little blips about Gaby and Coghlan are huge understatements to what has just happened. Coghlan has a 1.587 OPS in May. 16 PA which accounts for the LOL batting line, but it severely has raised his season line. Gaby as well, with a May, 1.563 OPS. Coghlan - 84 AB, .321/.394/.464 (.858), 9/10 BB/K, 8-0 SB Sanchez - 87 AB, .345/.414/.517 (.931), 11/14 BB/K, 4 HR Not that I was that worried from their lackluster April, but it's nice to see each immediately rebound in the span of three days. This is what I expect each of them to be doing in AAA all year. Keep it up. :thumbup
May 4, 200916 yr Author Im going to defend Brett. He will be fine he is just adjusting to AAA life. There is a huge difference between AA and AAA
May 4, 200916 yr Im going to defend Brett. He will be fine he is just adjusting to AAA life. There is a huge difference between AA and AAA Well, he'll have plenty of time to adjust to AAA life over the rest of his career.
May 4, 200916 yr AA is the best and most challenging level of professional baseball outside the majors. Only thing to adjust to in AAA is if you play in the PCL.
May 4, 200916 yr Author I disagree. I have talked to scouts, managers, and players and all of them have said it is tougher to pitch in AAA than AA. Granted you do have your best prospects at the AA level. The reason AAA is more difficult for a pitcher is because if you make a mistake in AA you can often get away with it. If you make a mistake in AAA it will cost you. I watched yesterday's game on Milbtv and had to listen to the OKC radio broadcast. They were throwing the Rangers #1 prospect and the radio guys said that this prospect (a former Brave high draft pick) said the exact same thing. The toughest thing about AAA is that if you make a mistake in AAA you pay for it, whereas you get away with it in AA a lot of times. I actually had one scout tell me he would rank the toughest leagues to play in the following order: AL PCL NL Internnational League AA
May 16, 200915 yr He got pasted again last night 7 ER in 3.2 IP. In only one of his last 5 starts has he failed to give up at least 4 ER and the longest he's lasted is 5 innings since his one win a month ago. Could he be the next Jacob Marceaux?
