May 9, 200917 yr Hey guys just wondering how this board compares to other teams fan boards in terms of members and how much activity the board gets. I ask because people have always questioned the Marlins fan base but since discovering this site a couple years ago i have really enjoyed the passion that so many posters contribute. Thanks and Go Marlins let's take the series tonight!
May 9, 200917 yr This board is definitely pretty active. It doesn't compare to some of the big market teams message board like the Cubs, BoSox, Yankees, Giants, etc, but it's much more active than floridamarlins.com's message board, which I was a member for so many years before I discovered this one. I was like, there has to be more Marlins fans than that. lol
May 9, 200917 yr and the Marlins TV ratings (FSN, Sun Sports) have been I believe in the top 10-15 in all of baseball every year which shows they have a pretty big fan base. Just doesn't show in the stands, but will in 2012 !!
May 9, 200917 yr Just look at other team's boards here: http://www.marlinsbaseball.com/forums/inde...showtopic=87376 I've gone through a lot of them and tons of other board for "big market teams" don't have even close to the level of activity that this one does.

You're actually wrong. All those forums are secondary forums. Most major league teams use their actual MLB website as their official forum. The Marlins are one of the very few teams that don't.

Actually, I'm right. The Marlins also use the MLB forums as their official, and a lot of people post there. It's just a wasteland with almost no intelligent discussion, as are all the MLB forums. We shouldn't be comparing it with the official MLB forums, we should be comparing it with other fan forums, such as this one.

The Marlins do have a MLB forum but with very limited activity. This forum is definitely the more active of the two. However, most teams use the MLB forums as their official one. Just look at the activity on the Braves, Cubs, Yankees, RedSox MLB.com forums and you'll see they are much more active than this forum.
May 10, 200917 yr I'm a member of the Marlinsnation.com forums. Its kind of sad there. There's only 3 regular posters. The admin, 1 other gu, and me. It used to be busier(never as busy as this place though) I don't know what happened to the other people. The other guy mentioned this forum which is how I found out about it. I don't think he's a member here though. I kind feel guilty about posting here when I was already a member there. Maybe I'm making too much out of it. The admin also has a Heat site and a Florida(the state not UF) football site. Both of thos sites used to be buzzing. but the football site is all but abandoned. The Heat site used to be busier but at least most of the people who used to post there regularly still lurk(they post once in awhile).

This is a fan forum. Also, not 100%, but rather positive that Son of Sam is more active than the official red soxs forum, and the Yankees also have a forum aswell but I can't think of it's name atm. And in response to heat84, one of the things that this forum has on it's side is the continual ability of getting new members. Do a google search of "Marlins Forum" and this site is first one that comes up. I know it was also publicized by SI before too. Admin's done a good job of making sure that people can find out about this place. Many people leave but many people also come.
May 10, 200917 yr I know some people who are supporters of other teams that use general sporting forums such as Pro Sports Daily as opposed to their specific team's pages. I've had a look at the PSD forums and they seem so bland and void of character compared to Marlinsbaseball.com.
May 10, 200917 yr This is an active forum even for a mediocre team. Which means that the Mutts are also a mediocre team, or maybe slightly worse than mediocre considering the Marlins have 1 more win and also are leading the season series 4-2

The Marlins MLB forum is the official one and they use it as such. This is not at all an official forum, it's just a fan forum. You should not be comparing MarlinsBaseball.com with the official MLB forums for other teams. Instead, you should be comparing them with other FAN forums.

I thought you were asking just which is the more active forum in general. I agree, as a fan forum this is a lot more active than a lot of fan forums out there. But if we're looking at forums in general, there are a lot more active ones than this one.
May 10, 200917 yr You have me dead to rights. Mets are a mediocre team right now. The Mets are actually chokers on a baseball field, to be fair.

Are you actually using your complete and utter failure to reach the postseason to as some sort of strange pride?
