  1. That was fun, actually got to see most of it on MLB.tv. Jose pitched well, Stanton homered, Morrison a couple of doubles and the bullpen held. Win over the Dodgers, not too bad.
  2. Cool to see the team winning and some of the guys performing so well. Fernandez' xFIP indicates that the performance is sustainable. I'd like to see the team move quickly and buy out a FA year or two early on. Doesn't seem to be the FO's thinking though as the Stanton situation shows.
  3. Good start today, on base 3 out 5 times. I hope LoMo can stay healthy and realize some of the potential he showed coming through the farm system. This organization could use the boost that an above average 1B man would bring.
  4. Fun competition, what will be the greater number? Number of innings played in this game or number of posts in this game thread?
  5. 14 runs is a lot. I'm living in Braves country now, can't really watch many Marlins games anymore (used to watch ~90%). The re-branding made me lose some of the emotional connection, the most recent off season pretty much finished it off. I decided I was no longer a Marlins fan and needed a new team. Still find myself somewhat following from afar and tend to be happier when they win than when they lose. Maybe I'm still fan. Man I'm confused lol.
  6. I'm done. Last straw. Guess I'll become a Braves fan? Closest team geographically anyway. Rays? Live in South Carolina now, sorry should have specified closest team geographically to me. Rays and Cards under strong consideration as well.

  8. Unless they can find a team to eat nearly all of that salary, I think they might be better off keeping him. He's pretty durable and will probably give you innings. I'd rather go that route than have the Marlins pay more than half of his salary to have him pitch for another team and get a throw-in prospect or two in return. Fair enough, just trying to find some positives here.
  9. I mostly agree but I could see a trade happening where the Marlins pay some of the salary and we get a lower level prospect in return. As a team expecting to contend would you not want a Nolasco towards the back of your rotation for one year at 5-6 million? Marlins could take some money off and take a flyer on a guy maybe not expected to do much.
  10. Nothing wrong with the way Nolasco has been pitching lately. If anything it helps elevate his value in case we do decide to trade him. Stanton is going to be mighty expensive though.
  11. Wow, this series of posts just made me realize how young the majority of this board is.
  12. I have read parts of this thread but not all so it may have already been pointed out but I'd like to say JJ has been worth 3.1 WAR already this year. His ERA is close to sub 4 and the only reason it is so high is because he still has a very high babip of .338 compared to career babip of .302. His Rest of Season Zips projected ERA is 2.79. He has already been worth his contract for this year and a similar performance next year would make him worth the 13.75 salary he is owed. I understand the situation the franchise is in right now and would be fine if the trade him for a future stud but right now JJ is still a really good pitcher who may actually prove to be a bargain. I'm more than ok with him staying for next year.
  13. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing. The knee has clearly been affecting him all year and with the team not really in the hunt its better for him just to get it healthy.
  14. Braves announcers are soooo brutal to listen to. Hating on Reyes when I'm almost sure he thought it might be foul.
