He's not ready but already has more RBI than Maybin did in 26 games.

 

Let's give him at least a full tryout like Maybin got.

I would hope Maybin would do well in NOLA, he's only been there a week. I would love to see Maybin back in July for the stretch run. The kid's got a world of talent I just hope he focuses on the little things that will make or break him.

Do you watch the games or do you just look at box scores? Coghlan actually looks like a major league hitter and even his outs or hard hits.

 

I eventually think he will develop into one of the game's best utility men but Maybin is facing AAA pitching- a big difference than majors- ask Gaby Sanchez and Dallas McPherson.

Gaby actually looked pretty good last year after his call up. Just because he struggles in spring training, doesn't automatically mean he can't hit major league pitching. You can't preach patience with one guy and not the other.

 

I'm fine with Coghlan, but batting him second in the order is just plain stupid.

He should be back by July, pending if he conitinues hitting sucessfully

Coghlan's getting a cup of coffee, but we really shouldn't be disappointed if he gets sent back to the minors in not too long. He carries a nice approach to the plate but he doesn't have an outfielder's bat even in a best case scenario. When he's comfortable, Maybin at least brings to the table some nice speed and defense and I think he can hit a lot better than he showed. Hopefully he learns from his time in AAA and gets his confidence back up because we really don't have a better option than to see him later in the year.
