8/14 Post Game

Featured Replies

11th game with 10 hits or more.

JJ was AWESOME.

Nuñez spanked again. (Even though ANY pitcher takes a homer)

Hermida producing. (About time)

Cantu seems to be waking up.

The remaining question is: Can they keep it up?

I hope so, if they can we'll see the magic again.

GOOOOOOO FISH!

Only problem being that he's given up 9 now.

True, and I could add that he dares the men at bat too much, and many times he abuses the fast ball so he gets probably more than he should, however, the guy still holds, while Lindstrom was a nightmare.

We could have a couple of more options, like Sanchez or Calero, heck! after all a closer doesn't have to throw @ 100 mph, all he has to do is take men out. (Sounds easy) One way or the other I still think Nuñez deserves the chance.

Leo actually gets a save tonight. Goes to show how overrated the closer's role is.

Also, before we start saying..."this pen really sucks in the 9th"...they only allow a run tonight if Helms makes a routine throw. Wes usually makes that throw, and tonight he didn't.

The poll pretty much says it all...Josh Johnson was amazing.

No it dosen't. It does highlite how the scoring of it is flawed. Don't confuse the two.

Wearing down. But not to worry. Anyone that was in love with him and wanting him in every closer opportunity can just change directions and blame Fredi for using him too much. Nobody will notice.

Time for the Cy talk to start... and well-deserved it will be. What a season.

He won't get close.

He will be mentioned. But "The Freak" goes back-to-back. And deservedly so.

If he can string together a few more wins and guide us to the playoffs, he should be up there. Then again, I keep forgetting that we're the Marlins. Dumb!

Hanley and JJ... studs.

J.J. was just grooving tonight.

Sucks to see the No No and shut out get taken away on one swing on a 3-2 pitch he left right over the plate but he put us in a very good chance to win and another good offensive night.

Hanley's just on another level this season, Cantu is starting to heat up, Helms coming of the bench with another pinch hit and the extra run scored(but he made a pretty bad defensive play) good night for the Cool Jerm and Uggla with the big homerun.

Tonight's going to be tough vs Cook and Vandy needs to have his stuff tonight because Colorado is going to come out hacking.

Fair enough. The save stat is overrated.

Bob is right. The problem lies in the fact that saves are used in order to evaluate a closer, and saves are a bad stat. Closers should be evaluated more by WHIP, K/9, K/BB, HR/9, Inherited Runners Scored, etc.
