Even considering his poorer form earlier in the year, he has finished the season with a 3.87 ERA which is perfectly acceptable for a number 3/4/5 guy. His record is poor at 4-8, but I am encouraged by the fact he seems to have got back on track and deliver quality starts.

I mean yeah, his season FIP of ~4.50ish isn't that hot but it's only ~4.00ish since he came back from injury. And looking at his BB/9 numbers, I mean, you HATE to exclude individual games because it just don't plain work like that but that 8 walk game in his second to last start on the year really hurts his BB/9 numbers. I don't remember the exact math but he had like a 4.20 BB/9 without outside of the game, and a 4.80 BB/9 including that game. If he stays healthy next year I think he'll be a good #3. If nolasco performs well, he stays healthy, we're looking at a good 1-3. we just need 2 someones from Volstad, Miller, RVH, West to step up. And RVH and West finish the season making strong cases for themselves.

Hell, going into September when Ani only had 9 starts and a 4.96 ERA I thought he was going to be the odd man out, now I think he's a lock in the rotation for next year.

October 4, 200916 yr I'd only worry if Amezaga turns out to be really inexpensive because he didn't play 95+% of this year and they keep him. Otherwise, EB becomes Amezaga and he won't start anywhere regularly.
