College Football Thread - 2009 Week 8

The AP Poll actually placed Alabama #1.

However, this is no longer the AP Poll. The BCS is now in effect, where the Harris Poll, the Coaches' Poll and most of the computers put Florida #1 and Alabama #2.

In a sign of fairness, USC, despite winning a close game over Notre Dame, was shuffled below six of the seven top unbeatens. Cincy rises into the top 5 after sending USF into its annual tailspin. :mischief

1) Florida, 6-0

2) Alabama, 7-0

3) Texas, 6-0

4) Boise State, 6-0

5) Cincinnati, 6-0

6) Iowa, 7-0

7) USC, 5-1

8) TCU, 6-0

9) LSU, 5-1

If Tebow is truly 100% back, then Miss State will be a good revenge game for them. But keep in mind, they were Florida's only loss last year.

Clemson ought to be handled easily by Miami, especially since it's a Miami home game.

USF continues not to fair well against strong Big East teams. Their tailspin will likely continue.

UCF gets C-USA bottom-feeder Rice. They didn't do that terribly against Miami. It was bad offensive play-calling against a superior defense that killed them, and your defense can only do so much when that is happening. I don't see them coughing up Rice's first win of the year.

You can chalk up @ North Carolina as a loss for FSU. Isn't it sad that FSU has fallen so far that North Carolina is an auto-loss now? I just don't see them winning this one. And you have to wonder how long they will let Bobby linger, because this epic doldrum is only hurting their recruiting.

FAU is going to have a tough road against La-La, but FIU has a good shot at their second win.

I can see Miami coming out flat against Clemson, especially after FAMU and UCF. We've got a tendency to do that, Randy has to push them hard this week.

agree with the comment of miss state vs ol miss .... i think miss state will play them close, but florida will just have too much and will pull away as the game goes on

clemson is coming off a big win and it's a team miami hasn't played in a while - they should be up for this one

it works in the canes advantage to play this at home, but clemson is one of those up and down teams

miami needs to come out sharp and with the focus they prepared with during the first 4 this season and realize this is a big step up from famu and ucf

i think they win it by 6-10

The loss last year was to Ole Miss. Florida never played Mississippi State last year and doesn't play Ole Miss this year.

Isn't Ole Miss a nickname for Mississippi State?

Edit: Ole Miss is a nickname for Mississippi.

Huuuuuuuuuuge game for the Hawks.. very scary. Playing in east lansing against a very good michigan state team. If we can get by them we have 3 home games against lesser teams (Northwestern, Indiana, Minnesota) and a game @ Ohio State. A loss to OSU still puts the hawks in line for the rose bowl if they win those home games.... soooo this is a BIG BIG game for my beloved hawkeyes.

Hawks have always always been a 2nd half of the season team under ferentz... so getting off to such a great start is awesome and really exciting.

FSU beats NC 30-27

It was a pretty sloppy defensive/penalty game, but our offense showed up and proved that they are a force to be reckoned with. If we get Dakoda Watson back and he is healthy, that will have a huge effective on stopping the rush (which we certainly couldn't today)

When Ohio State loses to Iowa (making USC's schedule look worse) and then USC loses to Oregon, all that crappy USC is being slighted horseshit can go away.

Wow.. iowa state pulls a stunner in lincoln. Nebraska has 8 turnovers, with 4 inside the five!

ISU lost on an overthrown ball to a receiver WIDE open in the endzone against Kansas and missed a PAT against Kansas state and lost by 1. They very well could be 6-1. If they get to a bowl it would be a miracle for ISU and their coach should get some votes for COY.

WIth that said, the big 12 north is a complete joke and i hate iowa state

The coach for Tennessee should be immediately fired after not trying to advance the ball with 40 seconds left. f***tard.

I never thought I'd see the day when the 'Canes would have a defensive issues. All throughout the last 5 years or so when the offense was crap, the defense was usually a typical 'Canes defense.

The only thing left for us 'Canes fans to do is root for BCS chaos. USC, UF, Alabama, and Texas to lose and Boise, Cincinnati, Iowa, and TCU to win out.

Wooooooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooo what a game! Wins at Wisconsin, Penn State and Michigan State. This team is so resilient (sp?). 8-0 with Northwestern and Indiana at home the next two weeks... then its off to columbus.

can't wait to see the bcs rankings... hopefully the hawks leapfrog cinci and boise

cant believe iowa is 8-0

notre dame had another close game this time with BC

freakin vols couldnt put alabama away

and i had a feeling clemson was gonna put miami down

Why do the voters ride UF's cock? They win ugly and actually move up in one of the polls. I just keep telling myself he be gone after this season pulling clipboard duty in the NFL starting next season never to be heard from again.
