I agree. What troubles me is sometimes we have found a way to lose games more than win them. Those two blown games against Cincy. Those hurt.

Well, I mean, we're at .500. We've found an even amount of ways to lose and win games.

Think of it this way, we're more or less where we were in the end of last April. If I remember correctly, after our hot start we started to lose a ton and went back down to about .500. We still finished strong, despite that terrible May we had. If we can play strong in May we'll be in a better position than we were after last May.

People forget that we were at 1 or 2 games over .500 before the All-Star Break last year.

I didn't forget that we didn't make the playoffs last year. Its always pretty much the same story in the start very hot, then cool off and hit rock bottom at some point, then miraculously make our way back in it, then fall just a little bit short. This team has all the character and fight in it to get themselves out of a big hole and get back in the playoff race, but none of what it actually takes to get over the hump when we work our way back in it. Sorry to sound so pessimistic but thats the facts- this team is mediocre.

This team reminds me of the Dolphins last year and specifically Chad Henne, who Tony Sparano all but called out publicly for being mediocre. Henne would blow (in conjunction with the defense, to be fair) majorly and get down 28-0, and then he would come out balls to the wall and bring the game to 28-27, only to throw a game-clinching interception on what could have been the victory drive. Pretty much this exact thing happened in several crucial games down the stretch last year.

I'm not saying this year is going to be the same story, but I'm not gonna convince myself to be positive by looking at times we've fought back only to blow whatever we had accomplished.

2 Shea (or chex?)

Looking at the past few years at the end of April:

2010: 11-11 (+1 either way for tonights game)

2009: 14-8

2008: 15-12

2007: 12-13

2006: 6-16

With the exceptional of last year, we aren't that good in April. Also consider the fact we went 9-20 (23-28 overall) in May 2009, so we should be at a better position by the end of May this year.

I'm not saying that I'm not happy. I just think that it will be the weaker link compared to the bullpen. Just my opinion.

Have you seen our bullpen?

Yah our bullpen isn't very good, if we make any moves it will be moving someone like a RVH for a bullpen piece. Starting pitching will be solved from within.

That would make absolutely no sense at all. While we all hope RVH prospers as a starter, there is a widely held consensus around here that if worst comes to the worst, RVH would make a pretty nice, above average reliever.

I'm good

wow, no kidding...good call

i like this deal alot...i believe more consistency to our offense is coming...i mean hanley cant slump for forever...if the starters continue the way they have pitched recently at least the pen will have rest and ohman should give valuable innings and prove tough on the lefties...if we make a run...it starts now...against more tough competition

go fish!

Nice call upstate! And to think, I thought that wouldn't make any sense............

Wait, maybe I still don't...............okay, I guess I don't hate the deal. I also wasn't considering that RVH is out of options, which sways the thinking a lot.

Got to hand it to you on this one, despite my obvious opposition to your claim back in April
