Nationals: Stammen had his second straight quality start on Saturday, but didn't figure in the decision against the Dodgers. Stammen lasted seven innings and gave up three runs on six hits, but it was the long ball that did him in. The Nats were ahead, 1-0, when Casey Blake hit a two-run homer to give Los Angeles a 2-1 lead in the top of the second inning. Blake hit his second home run -- a solo shot -- off Stammen in the top of the seventh.

 

Marlins: Through three innings of his last start, Volstad was pretty effective, even though he allowed a solo homer in the second to Colorado's Seth Smith. In the fourth inning, the game slipped away from him. The 23-year-old threw 35 pitches in the fourth, and he was out of the game after a season-low 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Rockies. Volstad seeks his second win of the season, and first since April 14 against the Reds.
