Do you hate Strasburg yet?

Featured Replies

I know its not his fault. But this reminds me of Lebron and Wade back in '03 when Lebron got all the hype and ROY, but Wade made the playoffs. On the bright side Strasburg only plays every 5 days, whereas Stanton plays everyday.

How much of Strasburg's performance can be chalked up to nobody having faced him before?

Strasburg's got people outside of the baseball world buzzing. He's great for the game.

As long as he doesn't dominate when facing us then I won't "hate" him. The Nationals have gone a while without a true ace so good for them.

Coverage is insane but totally agree.

I'm actually happy about his early success and mainly happy for the Nationals.

That organization has been in the shitter for the last I'm gonna say decade and a half and now all those years of losing seasons has finally paid off with Strasburg just dominating the Pirates in front of a sell out crowd.

The kid has talent, you can't take that away from him and he's going to win a lot of games and get a lot of media attention because of that raw talent but he has his up and downside.

Upsides are that he can be an easy 15 game winner this season and sellout a bunch of home games and even sell out some road games if he does well and maybe he can push the Nats into the playoff race.

Downsides are what happens when he's not superman a couple nights in a row.

He's eventually going to get hit hard throwing that upper 90's fastball so how will fans react.

And overall what happens if he pulls a Dontrelle and losses it after 3 or 4 seasons and becomes just an average MLB pitcher?

Also my main question is how long will his arm hold up? What happens after an injury prevents him from throwing upper 90's or when he gets into the end of his career and he isn't able to hit 95 consistently.

I hope he has a great career because the Nationals deserve a megastar like him and he has enormous talent but hopefully he has trouble with one team and let that team be the Marlins as they drill his fastball over the fence right and left.

With free swinging batting coach Presley the Marlins will probably set a new record for strikeouts in a game, but hit two home runs

Yeah, if the Marlins had faced him last night, he would've had 25 K's.

I've met him a few times before and both times he was pretty douchey.

I wouldn't be surprised. A lot of people hyped this much tend to be this way.

Michael Phelps is from my area and while I have not meant him personally, I've heard a lot of stories about him from people who have. Apparently in high school he was the biggest douche on the planet. I think he was already known to be qualifying for the Olympics stuff and let everyone know it.
