There's a reason they settled on Murphy and not Luna and we may never know what that was, but clearly the choice was there to be made and they made it. Since both guys were regs for E-Rod you have to figure he knew who was going to fit in best up here (and that's being said by someone has been talking about Luna for the last six weeks or so).

Apparently that reason would be Edwin trusts him more in crucial situations. And it's hard to argue with success, although undoubtedly some will. Invariably it's the FO that makes those call up decisions, but I would have to imagine they rely heavily on Edwin's hands on knowledge of these guys in AAA.

Was it last night when Bonifacio watched Dexter Fowler in the outfield and in doing so got himself to third base with a triple and ultimately scored the winning run. Or was that so other guy named Emilio Bonifacio? I'm confused.

But tonight on a wet track, down a run in the ninth inning he watches the outfielder and he's being accused of not running the bases properly. This is a perfect game played by imperfect people.

You guys are impossible to satisfy especially when deep down inside even if you won't admit it, you hate the guy and no matter what he does it will never be enough in your eyes to justify him taking his next breath.

It wasn't the wet track though; he was just caught looking at the OF'er. That's a situation with 1 out and his speed that there should be no doubts. He should have confidence in his best ability and know that he has to and can get to 3rd base with 1 out in that situation.

And the TV also clearly showed that his first step he was going back for some reason on the passed ball. At times, it seriously looks like he's scared to make a mistake. One of those cases where he might be trying too hard. I could understand him failing with the bat, but when he's on the bases he should just run, at all times. He's a guy who outruns the ball.

The TV also showed he didn't have a clear view of where that ball was. It's the hitters job to signal to the runner what to do in that situation, something the TV clearly showed didn't happen.

Ever try running on a wet track? If he had just poured it on and slipped would you be here saying at least he tried? I doubt that. Really doubt that. The facts are, he made it to third, and then he scored the tying run. Because of his speed he is able to hesitate and then go when others would pay the price for doing that.

I will agree he needs more work at reading pitchers. But this guy throws in the mid to high 90's (hit 97 last night). You get put in as a PR, you don't want to get picked off with that part of the batting order coming up and end up taking the bat out of their hands, not to mention sway the tempo of the game.

Reality check. In the last week he played some pretty decent defense in replacement of Cogs, hit .333, scored 5 runs in crucial situations, and even knocked in a couple in a crucial time. Not a bad week.

Although our bullpen couldn't keep our lead the fact that we kept battling back against the braves was really great to see. Donnie Murphy again with a walkoff! Third walkoff now in one week! Really awesome to see. I'm hoping the offense can continue.

On a site note: Did anyone here have any problems accessing this website for the past 24 hours???? I really wanted to get on this site but it hasn't worked for me all day! I kept getting either a "site not found" or DNS error. Is there anyone here that has AT&T DSL in FL and might tell me if this site has worked? Because I keep having this problem periodically and it's frustrating!

Yes. And at times have a hard time getting here for the same reasons.

Also, D-Murph's numbers the last few years in AAA are pretty cool.

I'd like to say, now that Bonifacio is being used in the role I said he should be last year (basically, Amezaga), I like him a lot more. He's perfect in this role, and he's thriving. Nobody should be surprised.

I really needed that game to end because I had just popped an Ambien before the top of the 9th. Luck, defense and some pretty clutch hits. I'd also like to thank Billy Wagner for uncorking that wild pitch. I don't wanna knock on Bonifacio too much because he plays hard and I think it's good that he cares so much about making a mistake. But the plays at third and home were definitely a little too close for comfort.

I chose Gaby as FOTG for his timely hits, but also his 3-6-3 DPs. The first time I really thought he would airmail the ball to Hanley.

Also, I really think that Sanabia kid has got guts. Big strikeouts against the heart of the Braves lineup to get out of a jam.

I just hope we can keep finding ways to win and gain ground in the East. Keep this motherfriggin streak going.

Also, did Marlins2003 really say that there are people who want bonifacio to die?

No bobby I didn't. I used a figure of speech.

bobby I worry about you. Your obsession is getting worse and worse. If you really believe what you wrote, you really ought reach out for some mental health counseling. Try the school nurse maybe she can send you to someone before it's too late.

Good luck next time.

2003, that is incredibly unfair and ignorant.

There is a legitimate concern with how Bonifacio got over to third base. He was clearly going to be hosed (thus killing the rally) at third if Jones had handled the ball better. The throw had him beaten by that much. I can't tell if Espada waved him over (if he had, he gets the blame), but if Bonifacio had gone on his own, I'd consider that to be a pretty big screw-up that pinch runners shouldn't be making.

The wet track only factors into this to the extent that Bonifacio should have considered it to be a possible obstacle in getting to third base on the play. I can't find the replay for this play online, so I'm just going by memory, but I don't think the problem was that Bonifacio looked at the outfielder; the problem was that Bonifacio's judgment told him to fo to third.

I know people think it's exciting for him to be getting to third on plays like that or legging out triples, but he needs a ton of work on the mental aspect of baserunning before it costs this team like it easily could have cost this team last night.

Also, for what it's worth, I didn't have any problems with how he went home on the passed ball.

2003, that is incredibly unfair and ignorant.

Ignorant? Get over yourself Pengy...I mean really you string together a bunch of suppositions none of which you can prove or even have any evidence of, and the frosting on the cake is I'm ignorant? Honestly, I expect better from you.

We should be celebrating an enormously important victory and this is the focus of discussion here? Miscues happened all night, on both sides, I personally think Wagner's performance and how we took advantage of it is a much more spicy subject to be reveling in rather than beating this dead horse.

And no bobby I don't want us to go out and kill a horse either.

What suppositions? I simply don't believe in rewarding poor decision making simply because it appears to work out. "Evidence" is not called for here. The throw visibly beat him by a mile, which means that Bonifacio's fate was put at the mercy of Jones at third base. That is a position that a baserunner should never be in, especially in a close game.

And having intelligent baseball discussion requires that such plays and decisions be evaluated. Nobody benefits from saying "how bout dem Marlins?" after a win and overlooking all of the nuances of play. Considering that Bonifacio being out would have been extremely detrimental for a comeback in the ninth, I think it absolutely warrants discussion especially since Bonifacio appears to be assuming a "super-sub" or pinch-runner role.

I have to run so you can have the last word but the supposition without evidence is that the throw would have beaten Bonifacio to third. You had just seen Stanton airmail one home that Tommy/Rich suggested may have been affected by the wet outfield grass and a slippery ball, which factors into not just the result but what took place on both plays, and conceivably could have gotten that runner were it not so high, but it seems you are more than confident that EB would have been out at third (the supposition as we'll never know, you - the collective "you" ) IF THE THROW WAS PERFECT.

Aha...the throw wasn't perfect, Bonifacio's running to third wasn't perfect, as I said in an earlier post as fans and lovers of the sport we have to realize while the game may be as close to perfection as you can get, the people who play are human beings and by definition imperfect.

Lunch date, gotta go. Have a great afternoon.

we need some how make bullpen better it almost cost us game and get starting pitch after jj to play better or look for help doing offseason it nice see team fight into wildcard race and nl east this could be best homestand of season coming right time we need keep fighting see what happen FISH ARE FIGHTER WATCHOUT REST NL EAST TEAM

Ehe, the most bipolar, passive aggressive person on the board just told me to seek counseling.

Heh.

Keep lobbing those personal attacks, while carrying yourself as the most mature person on the board. Maybe if you believe hard enough, everyone else will overlook what a joke you are.

True Statement, it's not like any other important sports teams or events happen there.

Actually You can't forget about Monster Truck Jamboree!!!!

At one point last year, my wife was at 7 losses in a row.

It's her fault we missed the playoffs.

But they are like 9-2 this year with her.
