Stereotypes..

Featured Replies

Oh, we have stereotypes for everyone! I feel it's a way we put people into our little boxes, or categorize individuals. It's sad, but true.

Could stereotype/categorize the whole of America as being overconfident and thinking they are the best nation in the world....

Back at you for having the exact same British bias. It's got nothing to do with being American or British. It's just the way people are.

It just so happens that the United States has the loudest voice in the world. And so you hear about it more.

I've always heard-- "White guys can't/don't like to dance". Any truth to this?

Well, I've always heard that too. My response is that maybe I can't dance, but I do it anyway! I freakin love to go out and dance!

What's the difference between a red neck, a hillbilly, and a hick? Or do they all mean the same thing? And did you know that they're descended from Scottish people. So Schnielders is a hillbilly.:lol

Has anyone heard the stereotype that males are better at math than females? That's a new one on me. It was in my social psychology textbook.

There was a program on the History Channel a couple years ago called "Hillbillies" hosted by Billy Ray Cyrus.. I Googled up this site which says the same thing: http://www.scotshist...s/rednecks.html Cracker and Gringo are Scottish too. I didn't know that.

I don't think that there is a stereotype in the US that Scots are big drinkers. The Irish on the other hand...

I think the only stereotype here is that Scots wear kilts and eat gross food.

What gross foods do Scottish people eat?
