Just had all 4 of mine extracted about 3 hours ago. The local anesthesia has worn off and I'm started to feel the pain.

Has anyone else ever had to go through this? How long does it take to heal?

:banghead

I had mine taken out last year in 2 trips because they just gave me jags to numb the mouth rather than give me a local anaesthetic. After the numbness wore off it was quite sore for the rest of the day, however after that it was fine unless the area got bumped as it was very tender for a while. It was awkward having to eat just on one side of the mouth and also felt weird running your tongue over the area since it was just a huge gap.

Had all 4 taken out last year, took a painkiller after the anesthesia wore off and didn't feel the need to take one again. So I guess mine healed pretty quickly, it was uncomfortable for longer than that though, but not a lot of pain.

^lol that guy is hilarious, I'm going to have to watch that standup now.

Same with me. I had all four taken out in one go. None of mine were impacted so the healing time and the pain was pretty minimal. I never took any of the painkillers they gave me.

Awful. After having braces, I was told I needed to pull them out, ugh. To this day, my mom will offer to do it herself and I still refuse.

14 years old, I was. All 4 taken out, all 4 horribly impacted. One of them shattered inside my gums so that tooth alone took about 2 hours to get out. Took them 4 hours overall.

Got an infection from it, missed 2 weeks of school. Couldn't fully open my mouth without pain for about a month.

Horrible, horrible times.

... I hope all goes well with you :D

Mom's a dentist? Is she an oral surgeon?

Yes, and yes.

had all 4 taken out, all 4 heavily impacted, didnt take too long to take out though, i went back to school a week later your face should look decent by then lol, all the swelling wont be down but most of it

Didn't get mine out - 25 years old now. One of them is broken but not bad. I should probably get to the dentist before too long.

I think you're alright as long as you wear your retainer. At least that's what I was told.

I never actually wore retainers, so my bottom teeth aren't straight like they were. Oh well, I'll live.

have fun with the painkillers. If you don't want them then take them down to your lowest income neighborhood and make some cash!
