November 28, 200322 yr you are talking about your fifth starter and even then perhaps only for a short period of time. damn you cant have all stars in all 5 pitching slots. damn, wake up fools.
November 28, 200322 yr Author Exactly Das. If the prevailing theory is that AJ is back in June or July, maybe May as has been suggested in the media, you aren't looking at an enormous number of starts. Someone will come into spring training and win the job. It's as simple as that. Maybe it Phelps again, if he's healthy, maybe it will be Wayne or Grilli or Small, who knows, but one of the grand things about spring training is watching guys trying to win jobs. Someone will dominate and he'll get a major league contract. I doubt the Marlins will trade for an interim starter, not with their payroll concerns. It almost by definition a $300k job description. Might even be another guy from AA ball. I can hardly wait for spring training to begin.
November 28, 200322 yr I can hardly wait for spring training to begin. I can't wait either. . . This is going to be a loooooooooooooong offseason
December 19, 200322 yr Welcome AniR300, I hope you enjoy the board, chats, agruments, fights and name calling? :lol ? J/K but about Redman being need till AJ comes back Phelps did pretty well during the period of all those injuries. Also I have to believe Wayne and even Grilli would be give a chance for that fifth spot until AJ comes back. LOL LMAO i havent laughed HARDER in my life lol edcanes.. GRILLI or WAYNE for the 5th spot LOLOLOLOL yea ok ur kidding right? i hop this is a joke... you mucst be nuts or somthing... those guys ar e not ml ready and SUCK. i rather see phelps or bump instead or somthing.. I thought about bring this up...I thought I'd heard some like this a couple of weeks ago...hmmmm Hey kid do you go to Yale or do hide under that Yale logo to hide how stupid you sound. http://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports/conten...6961fd009d.html Florida's strategy has been to take advantage of cavernous Pro Player Stadium and win with pitching. But the absence of Redman makes that more of a challenge unless the Marlins get someone to replace him. Beinfest said Redman was traded, in part, because right-hander A.J. Burnett is expected to return from Tommy John surgery by May or June. Until then, the Marlins will rely on a middle reliever as the fifth starter -- right-handers Justin Wayne and Nate Bump and left-hander Michael Tejera are among the options.

No love for Phelps? He filled in beautifully last year, and then it's like he dissappeared off the radar from lack of playing time and injuries. Either way I think he is our best bet for 5th starter coming into next season.
