I wanna know if Loria is actually surprised we're sucking and pissed about it. Listening to the radio the other day and hearing some of his comment before ST and during ST I wonder if he knew how bad we were gonna be/are.

This is the same guy who wanted Carlos Lee because of his RBI production. In other words, he has no clue about baseball

Yeah, what could a guy who knows how to plate runs when they're on base do for this team? We're clearly fine without any RBI guys.

I didn't have a problem with the Carlos Lee deal. At least he was trying to win last year. This year is going to be horrible.

What? So some players are intrinsically RBI guys?

Playing in arguably the best division in baseball also doesn't help our cause for trying to win games.

The way this team hits I don't see who we beat in the entire NL in a 3 game series. Maybe Colorado if their pitching sucks.

Other teams will have slumps. We just have to catch some teams when they are down ... and try to not be the cure for what ails them.

That was John Lannan who made them look like fools today at the plate.....not Cole Hamels or Cliff Lee.

It was silly. Trading the only decent 3B prospect for an old, declining 1B and then trading your starting 3B later that month? We already play a 1B in left field, Lee added nothing to the team. The team was poorly constructed and they threw bad contracts at players.

It's a lack of vision by this team.

And when we are ahead, we need the bullpen to come through for us. We would have been 2-8 if Cishek hadn't pulled a Bell the other day.

We are not going to win many games, so we have to protect our rare leads whenever we get one. Otherwise all bets are off and we'll be lucky to beat the 40 win Mets.

They tried to win and it didn't work. I'll tell you where they had a lack of vision....when they sent Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante to the Tigers for another bag of crap.....just like they did when the Marlins sent Miguel Cabrera to them. I would never deal with the Tigers again!

It's their fault that we suck?

How are turner and Brantly a bag of crap?

Brantly might be a decent catcher, but Turner could turn out to be just another Andrew Miller.

The Sanchez deal was good. What was the point of keeping him on the team for a few more months on a bad team when you could get a decent pitching prospect back?

I said this before.... I want the players to play hard and win but at the same time I want loria to suffer and see what he's doing.

How selig can't see that he's killing baseball in miami is beyond me.

The anibal trade was fine. The lack of vision was signing nolasco over ani to begin with. Ouch

4 shut outs and 2 1 run games... Any homers left think this team wins more than the magical 69?

I do.why? (this is a serious question. What makes you think they can win 68 more games?)

Seriously though, I see them hitting their stride, winning a few series towards the end of April and winning more series when the calender turns to may.

I think this team can finish months with 15-20 wins, once they figure out who they are.

Solano needs to go though, and JP needs to be replaced late innings. I think Red leaves him in out of respect for what he's done, not what he's capable of.

Fair enough. I agree about Solano and JP. the problem is if the hitting picks up its unlikely the pitching will hold. 68 more wins is a stretch imo

How was that fair enough? His justification was pure empty speculation with no tangible reasoning to support it.

Nearly everyone here who predicts this season to not be a total disaster is clearly a blind optimist. I suspect that some of them have biased reasons for their optimism too.

I think the Marlins are a serious threat to have the worst record in Major League history in 2013. The only thing holding me back from making that prediction is because the starting pitching has been pretty good so far this year. That being said, the Marlins will likely be dealing some of those guys (Slowey, Nolaso and LeBlanc) if they continue to pitch well.

This is just a team of slapping hitting ground ball guys that make 3 double plays a game almost guaranteed.

This lineup is so misfit it's crazy.

And yes I like him but solano needs to be out of the everyday lineup.

Nolasco might keep it up and then Id expect him to be delt. Slowey and LeBlanc will probably suck long before the AS break. We're pitching way better than we are right now.

I think we'll be able to compete with teams like New York, San Diego, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee and Chicago. Possibly Colorado if they're pitching continues to be awful but I don't like our chances against their offense with Rutledge, Cargo, Tulo.

Also you have to think, our offense won't be putting up 2 or less runs per game all season long, sooner or later bats will get hot and find a groove.

Why do you think we're gonna score more than 2 most nights? 2 to 3 is where I see us most of the year.

When Yelich gets here, that won't be a problem. He won't be starting at all once that happens. Unfortunately. that's probably not going to happen until late May or early June.
