04/13 PHILLIES (5-5) @ MARLINS (1-9) --07:10PM ET

Featured Replies

So the Marlins have not gotten off to a good start, but today we play against Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels who has been struggling tremendously with a 10.97 ERA. We will either look great today or find a way to revive Hamels' fortunes and make him look like an ace pitcher.

We have Jose Fernandez on the mound for the Marlins, which promises to be very exciting.

JOSE FERNANDEZ (ERA 1.81)

Some washed out Phillies scrub player named Cole Hamels (ERA 10.97)

Pierre 7, Solano 4, Polanco 5, Kearns 9, Dobbs 3, Ruggiano 8, Brantly 2, Hechavarria 6, Fernandez 1

God, that looks so much worse without Stanton, even though he's not hitting.

Jose's only gonna go 5, and you know that.

Unless he happens to have a perfect game going, which I doubt. But still.

I would think it has more to do with his pitch count than his IP, no?

It's an innings limit, not a pitch limit, unfortunately. Last season, he had a game where he threw 62 pitches and struck out something like 11 batters and they still pulled him after 5, no injury.

IP Count. They will only give him between 150-170 -more like 150- this year.

Yes I know that Im just giving the same info marlins have reported.

WHAT ABOUT OUR PLAYOFF RUN. UGH

150 innings ... That's 30 starts, all of 5 innings each.

170 would be 34 starts.

If his pitch count is under 70 by inning 5, it seems a bit silly not to let him continue.

As much as we would love to see him go more than 5, he won't. They want to controle him since the most he's pitched is 134 and they wouldn't want him to get hurt like Strasburg did.

Yes, that was an unfortunate comment on my part. Now that Cogs is in, we have the worst lineup ever.

We are going to make Hamels look like an ace pitcher despite his 10.93 ERA
