June 6, 201313 yr Top prospect Christian Yelich -- expected to be called up at some point this season -- will be placed on the minor league disabled list Thursday with a small abdominal wall strain. He is expected to miss about two weeks the Marlins say. Hitting .262 with six home runs and 28 RBIs in 41 games for Jacksonville, Yelich was hurt making a diving catch in the outfield Monday. He played Tuesday, but was lifted from the lineup after complaining of discomfort following three at-bats. June 6, 201313 yr Yelich is hitting a buck forty against AA lefties this year. He needs to spend the entire year, at least, in AA to improve his performance against lefties or he will be a platoon player in the Show. And he seems to have joined Morrison and Stanton on the young but injury prone list.
June 6, 201313 yr Can't say that about the injuries yet. Wasn't it a concussion last year? This year, plantar fasciitis and an abdominal strain, things happen.
June 17, 201313 yr Has there been any update on Yelich? Last I saw, he was put on the 7-day DL retroactive 6/4.
June 18, 201313 yr Healthy obviously. Yelich is gonna be a September call up. I hope not. He was in a terrible, terrible, slump before he got injured. They might as well leave him in AA for the rest of the season.
June 18, 201313 yr He was also on an incredible run before he went cold for a few weeks. Guy was hitting .330 for quite a while so dont act as if he was struggling all year. If he gets back up to .300 when he comes back for like a month he is ready.

So let him finish off his AA season, yes, then give him a cup of coffee.

He shouldn't be starting next year with us unless he absolutely hammers AA pitching from here on out.
June 19, 201313 yr He's ready. It's funny that even with his slump his OPS is still .860+ Yelich is more ready for the majors than Ozuna is currently. I don't think it would be rushing Yelich at all to call him up unless he slumps again upon return.

A nutrition plan with proper workout regimen should fix that, which is best suited in majors.
