June 21, 201412 yr By the way, Henderson Alvarez has to be a candidate for a spot in the All-Star Game at this point. He has a top 5 ERA, but there are so many starters with sub-3.00 ERAs that I could easily see him getting overlooked.

As of right now, his numbers are good enough to go, but he doesn't have the name recognition that a lot of other guys have, so I can easily see him get snubbed. Alvarez's numbers are better than Samardzija's (only by a hair) right now, but I could see Samardzija going instead because there is so much buzz surrounding his name this season. Also keep in mind that the "every team must have a representative" thing could also place some of the lesser (but still great) starters onto the roster. In short, I'd be shocked if he actually makes it.

June 21, 201412 yr A lot of it will probably depend on the next 3-4 starts before the All-Star Break. Also how Ozuna and McGehee do since they could be fringe all-stars too and the Marlins will not have 4 guys chosen.
