August 1, 201412 yr MLB should have to explain what Mathis should've done differently They had all of spring training for this crap. On the replay Mathis is looking at his own feet. So he obviously knew what he was doing. Any sort of movement because of the ball trajectory had to force him to move. Yeah maybe Stanton should throw it over the right field wall next time. There is no way getting around how silly this call is.

August 1, 201412 yr As a catcher that played college ball. I loved plays at the plate. Just for the simple reason that if you get ran over and hang on to the ball it fires a team up like nothing else. And nothing better then saying maybe next time to the base runner
