September 13, 201511 yr I'll start a thread just to say that Jose looked dominant in those 5 innings. Best I've seen him this year. That was 2013 Jose. Unhittable. And the bullpen lately has been terrific. Looking like they may have actually done well with the Cishek deal. They should have enough arms to move Dunn easily enough.
September 13, 201511 yr Yeah watching Jose today it almost felt like I forgot that he was *this* good. It was even a little bittersweet thinking that Boras would probably never let us lock him up. Even if they offered something fair like the Yelich contract, Boras is gonna make Jose wait for something groundbreaking from a higher spending team. The Marlins would need to throw down a Stanton-esque contract offer to keep Jose here. Shame for us.
September 13, 201511 yr I don't think the offer will need to be Stanton-esque but the team will do what it needs to in order to keep Jose. Not only for his performance, but his impact at the gate is significant enough for the team to structure the kind of deal that will be needed to keep him.
September 13, 201511 yr Marlins can maybe buy out one year of free agency. Would be be wiser to just buy out all of the arbitration years which Scott would be a lot more open to doing.
