In defense of everyone who didn't call this shitshow coming... Cashner and Rodney have been worse than pretty much anyone could have imagined. I mean even if you thought they'd struggle, there's no way you'd have thought it'd be this bad.

I still don't mind trying Cashner, I do mind losing Capps and do mind them not being able to add more than just Cashner. Cashner himself wouldn't have done it unless he suddenly pitched like an ace. The Rodney trade I never hated and still don't, it's the result I hate.

The Rodney trade was dumb when he still had a 0.30 ERA because it was pretty inevitable that he would come crashing back down to earth. The Marlins bought high on someone who you knew would turn into a pumpkin, although maybe not quite this big of a disaster.

This is what I expected from Cashner. I would have rather had Jarred Cosart pitching when the trade was made.

Rodney I expected something closer to his career line, so admittedly not this bad.

both rodney and cashner pitching to their historical norms was pretty obvious. many posters called the shitshow they would be before it happened. Seems like everyone but Mike Hill knew in fact. And that FO shill Admin as well

We are like the only two people who bashed the Rodney trade when it happened.

I was more speaking to Das' amazing ability to see into the future for the last several years.  He knows EVERYTHING before it happens.  Das is my hero.

@Das Texan did too, not sure if he posted it here but he clearly told me Rodney would be shit.

Obviously Rodney would be shit in Miami after having a 0.36 ERA in the first half. No brainer. Who couldn't have predicted his ERA would be like 12.00 with the Marlins?

Well I didn't think it would happen but @Das Texan said it would. And @pollyvonwog and @el penguino predicted regressions.  I liked the trade at the time but I'll give them the credit. They called this. Maybe not to this extent but the idea

Rodney was likely to turn into a pumpkin but it didn't have to be a rotten pumpkin that had already been run over by a truck twice.

Save your pumpkin humor for next month when the traffic will stink here. We will need it

Das projects negativity for everything and projected Rodney would regress (from a 0.63 ERA) was not bold.

Polly predicted a big regression or basically closer to his career averages which would mean an awful 2nd half considering his first half. Not sure if the other two did.

I'll be the first to admit i was very for the trade and I questioned penguino, das and polly on it. I ended up wrong. I won't say they saw THIS bad coming but  they certainly were more right than I was.

What's crazy too, and probably the most frustrating part of it... Credit to those who called this to whatever extent but even if they regressed but just weren't *this* bad, this team could be in a way better place now. Say Cashner didn't give up seven runs Monday and say Rodney didn't blow that save on the Sunday in Cleveland, take back maybe one more bad performance from each of them, hypothetically think everything else stays the same, and suddenly the Marlins could have been in the 2nd WC spot right now or at least very close to it. It's like a "so close yet still so far" thing and man does it suck.

Lettuce not forget the marlins actually traded for hunter cervenka too. There's another one that had pure shit all over it.

Ugh, I was gonna have a salad for lunch today and now I'm just imagining shit all over my lettuce. Damn you bro, you owe me lunch.
