Giving Conley one more would've been a lot more comforting.  Ziegler, Phelps, Ramos would be a secure finish.

I agree that Conley could have started the 6th, but at the same time, his control was slipping away, and that final out he got was smoked out there. If Granderson hadn't gotten under it just a little, it would be 4-3 Mets right now. So I also agree with taking him out. His control was clearly going and he missed his spot more than once in that inning.

It's all speculation, but it looked like he just lost a little composure after the homer broke up his no-hit bid.  He just needed to get that rhythm back.  If the bullpen holds, I'll be a little more confident in a move like this in future games.

 

 

If this....then that.  Seriously, you are basing your rebuttal on an "if"?  Come on!   Facts are facts. Conley gave up one hit. He had their number. Who cares that he walked some guys?  You want to leave it up to this pen that is untested, when we had someone who was mowing them down?  I prefer to give the pen 2 innings versus 4, but that is just me.  The end result being a WIN is what we are all looking for here as we "manage" the team from our couches.
