The possibility that Stanton opted out of his contract was just more and more LOW…

Unless he wants to win, because later on nobody would trade for him except now.

It's the key. If they just had energy and determination every day they'd go 162-0

I think it says a lot for him to say that. In my opinion, there is just no excuse for a professional team to be flat and feel like they need more determination.

He wouldn't get a contract worth anything close to that number again if he stays like this. No way he opts out

Yea he wouldn't opt out, but who would trade for him at this point? He can sit and bank for 10 years in Miami and nobody would want him?

It's easy to say winning should matter to a player (and he could end up winning with Miami anyway) but nobody walks away from that kind of guaranteed money unless they can come close to it elsewhere and right now he wouldn't.

And nobody is taking that contract unless the fish pay some of it

In the reality world, money was much more important than the WINS in the baseball game…

I hope he stays and I hope they stop giving him all sorts of mixed signals and "fixes" with different coaches. I think all he needs is encouragement and reminders to go the other way in his slumps, and if a pitchers leaves you a cookie, then and only then turn on it. And when things start going good, don't get too confident and try to hit every ball over the left field bleachers.  At least he turned on one successfully today.

In baseball. In basketball with the "max" contracts (which I despise but that's another topic), players frequently change teams and take less money to win.

Alright, you assholes were right.  This team sucks.  They and you have broken me.  Goddamnit, Adeiny!

They're in a slump. All their hitters are slumping at the same time.

That's what I said from 2006-2007, and from 2010-2016.  It's a flawed argument.  The team's just bad.  At the same time, I'd punch holes in some walls if they got rid of any of the regulars.  I don't know, man.  It's a hard life.

They don't play small ball. Haven't since the Luis Castillo and JP days. They rely on big hits, so if they don't get them, they get nothing. They do get singles, but they don't know how to move them over or steal bases, so it pretty much takes 3 singles to score a run. Outside of Gordon they have no speed. And the rest of the sluggers are the streakiest hitters I have ever seen.

I do not think it is a coaching issue. I think the players are too "emotional". They let good times get to them and bad times get to them. They do not adjust. It's one swing for every pitch and every count.

Last in taking walks, last in XBH

That is disgusting considering we don't have much for team speed either.

They are last in Doubles, they are a strikeout team with occasional single or dinger

Fixed

Least Offensive Strike Outs  - Marlins are 5th (196 K's) (#1 180 - Pitt) only 4 NL teams have fewer K's

Wow even with G and Ozuna swinging at dirt.... I guess tho with all the groundouts... We could use more speed tho if we just groundout.

As expected with this team, they let things snowball. From 10-8 to 11-14. They are really struggling.

Even though the pitching has not been good by any means, its mainly the offense that is the problem.

In fact, I think that is the problem with the team in general. Very talented overall but we just never know which players we are going to get. Just flat out inconsistent.

Even worse, we haven't taken advantage of the rest of the east struggling. Three games under already.

Marlins have been inconsistent for years now...when the pitching is good the offense struggles, when the offense is good the pitching struggles..I just dont get this team

incredibly true

Its all in their head

It's not an and/or proposition. A bad team can get hot and play good ball, and vice versa.

Last 7:

Yelly- .250 avg/ .520ops

Stanton- .120 avg/ .441ops

JT- .227 avg/ .455ops

Ozuna- .250 avg/ .750 ops

Thats the heart of your line up and they are struggling. Even Ozuna with his bomb is only producing at a league average rate over this skid. It's baseball, guys get hot, go cold, and in September we find out if their hot streaks were able to make up for these weeks. The problem is we aren't playing any type of small ball to try and compensate. Don is just waiting for them to break out like the rest of us instead of trying to create.

Yea,but that's after they earned enough money and still looking for the first championship in their career.
