5/2 Postgame

Volquez was way too fucking cheery in his interview. Guy just walked 8, lost the game, and now has a blister and he's laughing it up with Frisaro.

His brother died this year and he lost his father recently... I'm sure he has his priorities in order. A loss, 8 walks, and a blister are not gonna kill him.

yeah I've noticed they haven't been striking out nearly as much as they normally do as a whole.  Yelich seems to be swinging at a lot more trash in general this year too.  I've seen him roll over on some garbage pitches that he used to take and I've also seen him stare at a lot of called strikes this year that are actually strikes (Rich would always point out how good his eye is and throw up Fox trax to show that Yelich was actually correct in identifying a ball that was called a strike - but not so much this year).  The lack of XBH is infuriating and the fact that as many of you have pointed out we have very little speed. The team has a lot of useful players but oddly enough they don't have the right mix of players if that makes any sense.  They don't have that balance that helps offset weaknesses in their teammates as they progress through the lineup - could be why it seems like Marlins players can go make an impact elsewhere when they get sent packing.

I get that and obviously in the grand scheme of things the game is not important but when you perform that poorly you shouldn't be cracking jokes.

162 games. Best athletes are able to forget a loss and shit performances.

The lacks of extra base hits and walks is definitely concerning. Especially when players like Yelich are swinging at pitches out the zone.

The lineup is slumping right now and you aren't going to score many runs when one guy gets on base but the next 3 proceed to pop out weekly or ground out. Again as weird as Volquez pitching line was last night we still had a chance to win the game.

Accurate, for now.

it's been accurate for years though...they're doing the exact same thing they did last year...they are what they are i guess... no walks, ground ball hitting team, high average, low obp, no runs

As his lawyer I can attest to the consistency of polly's analysis.
