If I would’ve been in Yelich’s situation, I think I would’ve embraced being the face of a franchise.

 

There’s no guarantee he wins a ring in Milwaukee. Not even a likely scenario really.

 

He's one of the faces of the brewers now and he might not win a ring but he is at least going to be on a team who isnt gonna waste some of the best years of his career having 0 intention of attempting to win in the foreseeable future.

 

 

Seems like he valued losing his best "friends" on the team more than playing the game he gets paid millions for. He would have gotten over it in time. Hopefully JT does too.

The bottom line is that 29 teams this year will be LOSERS. There is no prize for 2nd place, and nothing less than holding that trophy is satisfactory (if you REALLY crave winning).  The guys who whined and cried about needing to be on a contender will (for the most part and maybe ALL) be ending their seasons in the same place the Marlins will be:  LOSERS. Greedy, entitled, over-paid entertainers. The lack of gratitude that they play on an MLB team in the first place is appalling.

Some also play to try to win the world series or at the very least play on a team who is attempting to win one within the foreseeable future.

Money doesnt buy happiness.  If you put in blood sweat and tears to get to the top 1% of the top 1% of what you do and there is a small maybe 5 year at best window where you are at the height of your ability and the team you were drafted by and didnt actually choose to be on said that they wanted to rebuild and are clearly not trying to win for the next few years youd feel the same way.  This whole conversation is absurd.  Youd bitch at them if they were content on making money and didnt care about winning and now that they dont want to waste their prime on a loser you bitch that they want to win more than anything.

Absolutely.  Prado seems like a great guy and a guy we wouldnt be terrible off keeping for they year as a clubhouse leader and then just trying to trade as an expiring guy next offseason.  My only point out of all of this is that i dont see how anyone can blame a ballplayer in the middle of their prime still with 3 years remaining of team control on their roookie deal (i.e. not making huge money relatively speaking) not trying to waste the next 2-3 years of his prime playing for a team that isnt actually trying to win.

Once again, I will reiterate: The MARLINS have a chance of winning it all before any of the teams those guys were traded to, meaning there will only be one winner each year. The other 29 are losers. Gonna be pretty amusing if we build a WS winner before any of them even taste the WS!   "Whaaa Whaaaa....my friends are gone.....I want to be gone too!!!!"  They need to grow up and honor the contracts they signed. Furthermore, you know nothing about my riches or lack thereof.  That was weak.
